Hieraus ist auch die allgemeine Vorgehensweise erkennbar, wonach von den Marken Sl und S2 bis zu von der Streckeneinrichtung 8 physikalisch frei gemeldeten Gleisabschnitten alles als belegt angezeigt wird. So sind im dargestellten Ausführungsbeispiel die Gleisabschnitte 2 und 4 durch streckenseitige Gleisfreimeldungseinrichtungen als frei gemeldet - Rechts- schraffur im Zustandsbalken der Fig. 1. Der Zustandsbalken 12 gibt also die Belegung der Gleisabschnitte aus der Sicht der Streckeneinrichtung wieder. Mittels eines weiteren, unteren Zustandsbalkens 13 ist in Fig. 1 die Freimeldung durch die Streckeneinrichtung 8 bzw. ihre Gleisfreimeldeeinrichtungen gezeigt. Bewegt sich der lokomotivenbewegte Zug 5 in Fahrtrichtung F, dann erreicht die Front 9 seiner Lokomotive 6 einen Gleisabschnittsübergang 11, was in Fig. 2 dargestellt ist. Die Streckeneinrichtung 8 erfasst in dieser Position des Zuges 5, dass der Gleisabschnitt 2 frei ist und löscht daraufhin die Verkehrseinschränkungsmarke S2. Der lokomotivenbewegte Zug 5 ist damit nur noch mit der Dauermarke Sl versehen. Der lokomotivenbewegte Zug 5 kann somit seine Fahrt fortsetzen wie ein automatischer Zug.
