- Such multi-pane windows serve both for thermal insulation and for noise protection.
- the noise protection function it has been shown that the sound waves excite all panes and cause them to vibrate when they pass through a multi-pane window. Since the edges of the panes are practically rigid, each individual pane develops its own resonances, which not infrequently build up or reinforce each other instead of dismantling them, so that noise protection is correspondingly low, and in some cases can be reduced even further. So far, these phenomena have only been mitigated by the fact that the individual disks have considerable strengths that are normally not required for their other functions, in order to reduce their natural vibrations accordingly by these large disk thicknesses. However, the large pane thicknesses require correspondingly high weights and, accordingly, high-strength carrier profile frames. The same applies to the window coverings, particularly those which have a switching mechanism for opening the windows about vertical and horizontal axes.

- the outer panes 2 and 3 are airtightly glued to the corresponding opposite side surfaces of the carrier profile frame 5 and in the gutter-shaped Recess 9, the center plate 4 is freely swingable in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the plate, by means of a supporting cable 11 held in a concave groove 10, which is formed all around in the end faces of the center plate 4, which, like FIGS 3 show, is suspended from the upper cross member of the support profile frame 5 by means of hooks 12.
