Description

The invention relates to a head protection hood covering the entire head, which is provided with a viewing opening.

In order to protect the health of the working people, various head and face protection hoods and breathing apparatus have been developed. Fresh air breathing apparatus is used in those workplaces where the air space is contaminated to a degree that is hazardous to health.

The fresh air breathing apparatus or head protection hoods lead filtered and cleaned air from an external source to the mouth and nose opening of the working people. In numerous branches of industry there is a requirement to also protect the eyes from the gaseous or granular materials present in the airspace. For this purpose, it is common to use protective hoods that protect not only the respiratory system, but also the eyes. In many cases this is achieved by completely protecting the head, which is completely isolated from the surroundings.

An essential condition of such closed head protection hoods, which are transparent in the area of the eyes. Have plastic or glass made protective window, it is that sufficient fresh air is always provided in the interior of the head protection hood. This is usually done in such a way that either fresh air flows through the entire head protection hood or the fresh air is fed directly to the mouth or nose opening of the person wearing the head protection hood. It is also known (FR-A-2106 753) to blow the fresh air into the protective head cover along the inner surface of the protective window. In the event that it is not necessary to protect the eyes from granular materials, there is the possibility with some such protective hoods that the transparent protective window arranged in front of the eyes can be opened.

Although the well-known head protection hoods guarantee a perfect solution for supplying the user with fresh air, these constructions could not be used in the most dangerous industrial areas, such as dyeing plants or spray booths, in which synthetic materials are sprayed with the aid of spray guns. This is due in particular to the fact that the impurities present in the air accumulate very quickly on the protective window protecting the eyes and thereby hinder the user of the head protection hood when viewing or make perfect vision impossible. This occurs in particular in spray booths in which powder particles which have been powdered and / or electrically charged are sprayed and which accumulate or accumulate particularly quickly on the transparent protective window. If the protective window is made of a plastic, the field of vision becomes matt within a short time and is destroyed relatively quickly due to the continuous cleaning. In the known head protection hood mentioned (FR-A-2 106 753), provision has already been made to generate an additional air curtain in front of the outside of the protective window. However, since the air for this outer air curtain is supplied from the same distribution channel from which the fresh air blown into the protective window on the inside of the protective window is supplied, the pressure for this fresh air is too high if the outer air curtain effectively prevents contamination the protective window should be as strong as possible.

In addition, the use of the known fully closed head protection hoods is also psychologically uncomfortable, since it gives the user the feeling of being closed, which is unbearable for many people.

Head protection caps are also known (DE-C-1 087 906), in which an air curtain is generated in front of the face of the user by means of nozzles on the cap screen and a separate breathing tube is provided, the mouthpiece of which is taken into the mouth while the nasal openings are closed with a nose clip. This is not pleasant for the user. However, head protection hoods with an uncovered viewing opening covering the entire head of the user have also become known (FR-A-1 102 541 is blown out with air jets directed obliquely outwards in front of the center of the viewing opening These are blown in because the air curtain sweeping over the viewing opening creates a negative pressure in the area of the viewing opening, which makes breathing more difficult. However, since with the known head protection hood the additional breathing air is introduced into the back of the protection hood, it can only be used on both sides of the Flow head forward so that it is sucked under the suction of the air curtain predominantly to the two side edges of the viewing opening and therefore in the area of the mouth and nose opening of the wearer there is still a negative pressure which impedes breathing, the greater the flow velocity for the training of a we ksamen air curtain.

The invention has for its object to develop a combined breathing, eye and head protection hood, which protects the entire head area against external mechanical and contaminating effects, with an uncovered viewing opening by forming the strongest possible air curtain in front of the viewing opening effective protection for the eyes offers gaseous or fine-grained impurities of the outer air space and at the same time effortless breathing when out sufficient fresh air supply ensures.

The invention is based on the fact that, in the case of a head protection hood having an uncovered viewing opening, an air curtain can be formed from air flowing at high speed in such a way that, on the one hand, the influx of the outside contaminated air in the direction of the eyes or into the head protection hood is prevented and, on the other hand, through that in the Zone between the respiratory system and the air curtain, the breathing air conveyed into the hood in the desired direction, d. H. can be guided to the nose and mouth opening so that fresh air is always available in sufficient quantity in the interior of the head protection hood, in particular in front of the nose and mouth opening.

This is achieved by the invention in that the outlet opening connected to the fresh air supply line is arranged below the viewing opening in the area of the mouth and nose opening of the person wearing the hood and in that the openings serving to produce the air curtain above the viewing opening for the production of an approximately in the surface of the air curtain opening are arranged and formed.

The distribution chamber having the openings for generating the air curtain and the fresh air outlet opening can be connected to separate air connections. Alternatively, the distribution chamber and the fresh air outlet opening are connected to a common air connection, a separate manual control valve controlling the air quantity being provided in the fresh air supply line.

The openings used to generate the air curtain can be designed as bores or gaps. A particularly advantageous embodiment, however, consists in designing the openings in the form of precision nozzles, which can be arranged individually adjustable in the form of ball valves on the upper edge of the viewing opening.

From the common air supply source, the air can be led to or into the head protection hood via a corresponding air preparation unit, a pressure regulator, the control valve (possibly several valves) controlling the air volume, flexible connecting lines and a quick connection.

The invention is explained on the basis of some advantageous embodiments which can be seen from the accompanying drawing. The drawing shows:
  • FIG. 1 shows a head protection hood and its arrangement on the head,
  • FIG. 2 shows another embodiment of the head protection hood,
  • Figure 3 shows a head protection hood together with the required air supply system, during use and
  • Figure 4 shows the section through a distribution chamber and through one of the nozzles generating the air curtain in the head protection hood.

The head protection hood 1 has a free, uncovered viewing opening 10. As can be seen from Fig. 1, a continuous air line 2 is arranged on the upper half of the protective hood 1, which ends in the area of the back of the head with its two ends in a connection 8 and in the area of the viewing opening 10 above the same in a distribution chamber having a larger cross section 3 passes. Openings 4 are provided in the distribution chamber 3 and serve as outflow openings to form an air curtain. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the openings 4 are designed as nozzles. But they can also be designed as a vertically extending column.

Furthermore, an outlet opening 6 of a channel for the supply of fresh air is provided on the head protection hood 1 at the level of the nose and mouth opening, which ends with its two ends in a fresh air supply line 5 running around the head protection hood 1, which in turn has an air connection 9 in the area of the back of the head connected is. A filter 7 can be inserted into the outlet opening 6 and can be covered with a perforated cover.

In the event that a perforated cover is provided, it can be removed to allow the filter to be replaced.

The embodiment of the head protection hood 1 shown in FIG. 2 differs from that in FIG. 1 in that the air line 2 opening into the distribution chamber 3 is connected together with the fresh air supply line 5 to a common air connection 8, 9.

Both of the embodiments shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 are expediently provided with a handle 17. A shoulder protection means made of textile material can be connected to the head protection hood 1 from below.

If the supply air corresponds to the purity requirements, the embodiment shown in FIG. 2 can be used, whereas if the supply air contains contaminants, it can only be used to generate the air curtain (see FIG. 1) and the fresh air supply line 5 with the outlet opening 6 a special fresh air supply line is connected.

As can be seen from FIG. 3, the connection 8 or 9 is connected via lines 18 to a control valve 13, which is approximately at the waist height. is attached to the back of the person wearing the head protection hood. The control valve 13 is connected via an air-conveying pipe 12 to a pressure regulator 14, which in turn is connected to a filter 15.

The part of the head protection hood 1 located above the viewing opening 10 is shown in FIG. 4 in section. As can be seen from FIG. 4, a receiving part 19 is arranged in an opening 20 in the wall of the distributor chamber 3, which is provided with a bore 21 which diffuses on its part 22 pointing towards the viewing opening 10 is expanded like a care. A ball 16 is inserted into the bore 21 in such a way that its boundary facing the inspection opening 10 comes to lie where the bore 21 begins to expand towards the part 22 which is expanded like a diffuser. The ball 16 is adjustably mounted in the bore 21 and has a passage 23 forming the openings 4 from FIG. 1 or 2 with a substantially smaller cross section than the bore 21. By adjusting the ball 16, the blow-out direction of the air flowing through the passage 23 can be adapted to the respective conditions.

With the head protection hood 1 according to the invention according to FIG. 1, measurements were carried out under conditions in which the external conditions were significantly worse than is normal. Thus, when polyester resin was sprayed and the ventilation of a production hall was switched off at the same time, an unbearably high styrene contamination of 1,500 mg / m 3 was generated. Despite the rather large inspection opening 10, only a concentration of 3 mg / m 3 was measured in the air flow of the head protection hood 1, which is considerably below the permissible limit. The head protection hood 1 was supplied with air with the help of a compressor with an output of 15 m 3 / hour in a discontinuous operation. These measurements have shown that the use of the head protection hood 1 according to the invention enables the general exchange of air at workplaces which are harmful to health (spray booths and everywhere where spray guns are used to spray synthetic substances) to be reduced by orders of magnitude, in particular in the winter months, a significant energy saving is achieved. So far, it was not possible to do without a strong air exchange using the known head protection hoods, since there was then a particularly high risk that the particles floating in the air would get into the area of the eyes when the viewing opening was open or at the front of the eyes when the viewing opening was closed windows are deposited.

In the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, a manually operable valve 24 can be provided in the fresh air line 5 in addition to the regulator valves 13 located at the waist, through which the fresh air throughput can be greased or adjusted.
