Detailed Description
Referring to fig. 1 to 4, a vehicle door latch apparatus according to a first embodiment of the present invention includes a latch release lever 3.
The latch release lever 3 is part of a latch mechanism of a vehicle door. The latch release lever 3 is capable of unlocking the vehicle door so that the door can be opened.
In particular, the latch release lever 3 is movably mounted between an active position and a rest position.
In the active position, the latch release lever 3 actuates the latch mechanism in order to unlock the door, in particular by means of a bowden cable. More particularly, the latch release lever 3 is connected to a handle lever configured to be actuated by a user to move the latch release lever 3 to unlock the vehicle door.
In the rest position, the latch mechanism is released. More particularly, the handle lever is released by the user so that the latch release lever 3 can return from the active position to the rest position, or remain in the rest position. The arrangement preferably comprises return means (not shown) to urge the latch release lever 3 towards the rest position.
The vehicle door latch device also includes a latch housing 5 that receives the latch release lever 3. In particular, the latch housing 5 comprises a portion of the latch mechanism, such as a bowden cable, connected to the latch release lever 3. The latch housing 5 preferably includes a cover 51 and an outer shell 52 that cooperate together to form a space in which the latch release lever 3 is received.
The vehicle door latch device further includes a safety device 4, the safety device 4 being configured to close the latch housing 5. In particular, the safety device is fitted between the cover 51 and the casing 52.
Advantageously, the latch housing 5 and the safety device 4 enable improved protection of the latch release lever 3 from water ingress and damage from external conditions (e.g. cold, moisture and dust).
The safety device 4 comprises a sealing part 4a, the sealing part 4a being configured for participating in the closing of the latch housing. In particular, the sealing part 4a has a form complementary to a corresponding portion of the latch housing 5.
According to one embodiment, the sealing member 4a comprises two ends 41 and 42a configured to cooperate with the cover 51 and the housing 52, respectively.
The safety device 4 further comprises an impact receiving part 43 and a blocking part 40.
The impact receiving member 43 is configured to receive an impact from outside the latch housing 5. In particular, the impact is transmitted to the safety device 4, so that the safety device can move towards the inside of the latch housing.
The blocking member 40 is configured to block the latch release lever 3 at an intermediate position between the rest position and the active position when the impact receiving member 43 receives an impact. The blocking portion 40 thus prevents the latch release lever 3 from reaching the active position. More specifically, the impact transmitted to the safety device 4 causes the blocking member 40 to move toward the latch release lever 3, thereby blocking the latch release lever 3.
The blocking portion 40 may preferably comprise rubber.
Advantageously, the impact receiving member 43 and the blocking member 40 improve the safety of the vehicle, since in case an impact on the door is received by the impact receiving member 43, the blocking member 40 in turn blocks the latch release lever 3 to prevent undesired opening of the door.
The sealing part 4a ensures the sealing of the latch housing 5 permanently, in particular at least before the impact.
According to one embodiment, the sealing member 4a is configured to ensure sealing of the latch housing 5 during an impact. For example, the sealing part 4a comprises a ductile elastic sealing material for this purpose.
According to one embodiment, the sealing member 4a is supported by the impact receiving member 43, as shown in fig. 2A and 2B. Such a sealing portion 4a may be overmolded on the impact receiving member 43. Alternatively, the seal member 4a and the shock receiving member 43 may be made as a single-piece element.
According to one embodiment, the sealing member may also be fitted onto or beside the blocking member.
According to one embodiment, when the impact receiving member 43 receives an impact, the impact receiving member 43 pushes the blocking member 40 so that the blocking member 40 blocks the latch release lever 3, as shown in fig. 4. One end 42 may remain connected to the housing 52 and the other end 41 may move within the cover 51, for example by sliding within the cover 51, as shown in fig. 4.
Preferably, the safety device 4 comprises return means 46, which return means 46 are configured to urge the safety device 4 (in particular the blocking member 40) in a direction opposite to the direction of the impact received by the impact receiving member 43 when the impact receiving member 43 is struck below the force threshold. Advantageously, the return means 46, in particular the spring plate, can restore the seal of the latch housing.
According to one embodiment, the blocking member 40 and the impact receiving member 43 form a single element. This enables these parts to be manufactured by moulding them in one step.
According to one embodiment, the impact receiving part 43 comprises a ramp for receiving said impact. Such a slope enables a constant distance between the shock receiving member and the part of the handle that transmits the shock to the safety device. The shock receiving part 43 is thus sensitive to shocks at different angles.
According to one embodiment, the safety device 4 comprises at least one deformation element configured to bring the blocking component 40 into an irreversible blocking position when the impact receiving component 43 is struck beyond a destructive force threshold.
As shown in fig. 2B and 3, a first deforming member 42 and a second deforming member 45 are provided. The first deformation element 42 is located at the contact area between the safety device 4 and the latch housing 5. The second deforming member 45 comprises a quick fuse component configured to be broken from the right in fig. 3 beyond the breaking force threshold.
After the impact, the first deforming member 42 is configured to remain oriented toward the interior of the latch housing 5, as shown in fig. 2. In this case, the blocking member 40 remains blocking the latch release lever 3 even if the impact is transient.
Referring to fig. 5A to 5C, a vehicle door latch apparatus of a second embodiment of the invention is similar to that of the first embodiment. However, the blocking member 140 includes a transmission lever 144 configured to block the latch release lever 3. In particular, the transmission rod 144 is separated from the impact receiving part 143. Advantageously, this embodiment can have a blocking member 140, which blocking member 140 is of a specific material, for example a more rigid material with respect to the impact receiving member 143 or the sealing member 4 a.
In other words, according to one embodiment, an element distinct from the sealing part 4a, in particular the blocking part 140 comprising the transmission rod 144, is used to block the latching mechanism, in particular the latch release rod 13.
The blocking member 140 may preferably comprise steel.
Preferably, the impact receiving part 4a is overmolded on the transfer rod 144.
As shown in fig. 5A and 5B, an alternative deformation element 142 includes an inner leg and an outer leg relative to the interior of the latch housing 15. The inner leg is fitted on the latch housing 5. When the impact receiving member 143 receives an impact above a predetermined threshold, the inner leg is pushed inward and remains in the latch housing 15, as shown in fig. 5B, so that the blocking member 140 remains blocking the latch release lever 13 even if the impact is transient.
For example, the predetermined threshold is/corresponds to a shock of 90N.
Referring to fig. 6A and 6B, a vehicle door latch apparatus of a third embodiment of the present invention is similar to the vehicle door latch apparatuses of the first and second embodiments. However, the safety device is configured such that when the impact receiving member 343 receives an impact, the blocking member 340 is broken so that the blocking member 340 blocks the latch release lever 33.
The impact receiving member 343 includes a fusible region configured to break off upon receiving an impact.
Referring to fig. 7, a vehicle door latch apparatus according to a fourth embodiment of the present invention is similar to the vehicle door latch apparatuses of the first and second embodiments. However, the safety device is configured such that when the impact receiving member 243 receives an impact, the blocking member 240 deforms so as to block the latch release lever 3.
Fig. 7 shows an example of the latch mechanism 6 in further detail, the latch mechanism 6 comprising a bowden cable 62 and a lever connection 61, the lever connection 61 connecting the bowden cable to the latch lever 23 to be pulled in the shown positions 23A, 23B and 23C.
As shown in fig. 8 and 9, the other set of deforming elements includes a first deforming element 242 and a second deforming element 242a that partially overlap each other. For example, the first deforming member 242 is located on the impact receiving member, while the second deforming member 242a is located on the transmission rod. One or both of the deforming members 242, 242a are at least partially elastic. As shown in fig. 8, the first deforming member 242 may be external to the second deforming member 242a, or the reverse arrangement may be implemented.
When the impact receiving member receives an impact beyond a predetermined threshold, the inner deforming element 242a is pushed inwardly and is held inwardly relative to the other deforming element 242, as shown in fig. 9, so that the blocking member remains blocking the latch release lever 13 even if the impact is transient.
According to one embodiment (not shown), the latch housing 5 comprises a housing deforming member configured to cooperate with the impact receiving member and the blocking member such that when the impact receiving member is struck beyond a housing force threshold, an impact is transferred to the latch housing 5 to drive the blocking member and the latch housing 5 reaches an irreversible blocking position and causes the blocking member to block the latch release lever 3. Such housing deformation means comprise one or more of the above-mentioned deformation elements on the latch housing 5 instead of on the safety device.
According to one embodiment, the security device 4 has a curved shape configured to close the corners of the latch housing 5. This embodiment improves the freedom of movement of the safety device.
More generally, the vehicle door latch apparatus of the present invention is part of a vehicle door. The vehicle door further includes a door panel 1 and an impact transmitting member 2, 22 or 32.
The impact transmitting member 2 is at least partially connected to the door panel 1 and placed near the safety device 4.
The impact transmitting member 2 is configured such that in the event that the door panel 1 deforms due to an impact in a lateral direction with respect to the door, the impact transmitting member 2 transmits the lateral impact to the safety device 4 such that the blocking part is moved to block the latch release lever 3.
Numerous modifications and variations will occur to those skilled in the art upon reference to the foregoing illustrative embodiments, which are given by way of example only and are not intended to limit the scope of the invention, which is determined solely by the appended claims.
In the claims, the word "comprising" does not exclude other elements or steps, and the indefinite article "a" or "an" does not exclude a plurality. The mere fact that different features are recited in mutually different dependent claims does not indicate that a combination of these features cannot be used to advantage.
