Abstract
This pack (V) has, in its longitudinal fin seam (29), a plurality of incisions (4-7) from the edge of the longitudinal fin seam into a middle region of the latter. Marking incisions (8-11), by means of which the material is only partially severed, serve for bending a V-shaped part of the longitudinal fin seam (29). The distances between the incisions are identical to one another and are in the range of between 20% and 50% relative to the length of the pack. This ensures that, without any additional control by means of corotating knives, at least one of the incisions is arranged in the region of the packaged article. Because no control is necessary, any tubular-bag machine designed for making a longitudinal fin seam (29) can be converted without a high outlay and without any loss of performance. <IMAGE>

Fig. 1 eine perspektivische Ansicht einer Packung,
Fig. 2 einen Aufriss einer schematisch dargestellten Schlauchbeutelmaschine,

The present invention relates to a pack for piece goods according to the preamble of independent claim 1, further to a method for producing the pack according to the preamble of independent claim 8 and a tubular bag machine for carrying out the method according to the preamble of independent claim 10.
It is known to provide a tubular material web at constant intervals with tearing aids, in particular a band, the end of which protrudes beyond the longitudinal seam to form a handle. If the longitudinal seam is designed as a fin seam, it has a higher tensile strength than the rest of the pack due to the two parts of the material web connected to one another. According to CH-A 558 283, tearing into the fin seam is facilitated by at least one incision starting from the edge of the fin seam or two incisions of unequal length next to the tear strip.
It is known in the packaging industry that the fastening of tear strips alone means an expensive additional work in the course of the production of a package. Making incisions in the fin seam at precisely defined points means additional control, which, however, can only work precisely at slow transport speeds.
In contrast, it was proposed in CH-A 610 261 to provide the transverse fin seams with incisions in order to tear open the package in the longitudinal direction. However, it has been shown in the case of piece goods, in particular chocolate bars, that the cross-seal seam, which has up to 6 layers, is difficult to tear open and usually only releases one corner of the packaged goods. In the case of chocolate in particular, it would be desirable to expose the bar with a single handle so that no second handle is necessary to enjoy the chocolate and still have part of the package as protection against dirt on the hands.
In US-A 3 196067 a device for closing a package by means of a fin seam is described. The cutting knife is provided with protruding blades to weaken the fin seam in several places through incisions. Such incisions distributed over the length of the fin seam would be desirable for the intended use in a pack for piece goods, but the incision would have to be made while the tube was continuously running. However, as soon as a targeted distribution of the incisions along a fin seam is sought, this requires control of the incision means.
It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a package for piece goods with a tear-open aid, through which the piece goods can be exposed over a substantial part of its length. The device for producing the tear-open aid should be inexpensive and can be attached to existing tubular bag machines without difficulty and should not cause any losses in terms of performance.
According to the invention this is achieved by the features in the characterizing part of independent claim 1. The method for producing the pack and the device for carrying out this method are described by the features in the characterizing part of the respective independent claims 8 and 10.
An embodiment of the invention will follow
described with reference to the drawing. Show it:
1 is a perspective view of a pack,
2 is an elevation of a schematically shown tubular bag machine,
3 shows a view of the tubular bag machine according to FIG. 2 from below,
4 shows a view of a pair of rollers in the sealing station of the tubular bag machine according to FIGS. 2, 3 on an enlarged scale,
5 shows a side elevation of a roll according to FIG. 4, and
6 is a sectional view of a knife according to section line VI-VI in FIG. 4.
The package according to FIG. 1 for piece goods, such as a piece of chocolate, has a longitudinal fin seam 29 and two transverse fin seams 2, 3. Four incisions 4, 5, 6, 7 and marking cuts 8, 9, 10, 11 are made in the longitudinal fin seam 29. In this example it is clearly shown that at a distance of around 30% of the length of the pack, four incisions 4-7 can be distributed equidistantly over the length of the fin seam 29. The material of the fin seam 29 is bent by the marking cuts 8-11, so that the changed course of the embossed sealing lines in the fin seam immediately reveals the four places as a result of the changed light reflection. The consumer can therefore tear open the package at an incision.
He will preferably do this in one of the two incisions 4 or 5 because he can expose a sufficiently large part of the packaged goods and still packaging material remains around the goods so as not to get dirty in the case of chocolate. If the distance between two adjacent incisions is between 20% and 50% of the length of the pack, it is ensured that there is always at least one incision in the area of the packaged piece goods and the consumer can expose the piece goods by a simple tear-open movement. This uniform distribution of the incisions allows a simple device for their production, without increasing the cost of the pack and without changing the performance of the machine.
A tubular bag machine of a known type is shown schematically in FIGS. 2 and 3. The objects G to be packaged are fed on a conveyor in the form of an endless conveyor belt 30 with a deflecting roller 32 at equal intervals and pushed into a folding box 22 in which the packaging tube 23 is formed from a material band 21 by a material supply 20. The material for the hose can be paper or a metal foil covered with a thermoplastic, weldable material, or it could also be a foil made of thermoplastic material.
In the folding box 22, the packaging material is placed in a hose-like manner around the objects G to be packaged in a manner known per se, in such a way that tabs 29 projecting on the underside are formed. These tabs 29 are in the sealing station 28 by driven roller pairs 24,
24a; 25, 25a and 26, 26a detected and the hose 23 is conveyed further. The middle pair of rollers 25, 25a is heated and welded while passing through the
Rag 29, while the first pair of rollers 24, 24a, preferably with a friction surface for better transport of the
Hose can be provided. The third pair of rollers 26,
26a is provided with knives for making the cuts 4-7, for example.
The hose 23 with the enclosed objects
G then passes into the transverse sealing station 34 for the production of the transverse fin seams. In this cross-sealing station 34, two segment-shaped heated jaws 35 are each attached to a rotating roller. The rollers are driven synchronously with the tubular bag machine, in such a way that the jaws 35 always press and weld the tube 23 in the middle between two objects G. One jaw is provided with a knife 36 in order to separate the individual packages V from one another. With a second conveyor belt 31, which runs over a deflection roller 33, the packs V are conveyed further.
In this tubular bag machine, the material strip 21 is fed in from above, so that the longitudinal fin seam 29 is formed under the objects G. If, however, the objects G consist of a heat-sensitive material, such as chocolate, the material web can just as well be fed in from below and the longitudinal fin seam 29 can be formed over the tube by means of a similar sealing station 28.
4 shows the last pair of rolls 26, 26a of the sealing station 28 in FIGS. 2 and 3 on a larger scale, as well as the welded fin seam 29 provided with grooves 29a. As the side elevation of the roll 26a in FIG. 5 clearly shows, the two point Roll 26, 26a circumferential ribs 40 and grooves 41 formed between two adjacent ribs 40.
One roller 26a is provided with inserts 42 with blades 43, 44 and the other roller 26 with counter-holding inserts 45. Of the blades 43, 44, one blade 43 is provided with a continuous cutting edge and the other blade 44 is provided with a plurality of discrete cutting edges 48 arranged at a distance from one another.
Both the inserts 42 with the blades 43, 44 and the counter-holding inserts 45 are fastened in a known manner in recesses in the rollers 26, 26a by means of screws 46.
In the example shown, the distance between two subsequent incisions corresponds to approximately 47% of the length of the pack if two knives are arranged on the circumference of the roller 26a. If the rollers 26, 26a had the same diameter as the preceding roller pairs in the sealing station 28, at least three knives 42 and counter-holding inserts 45 would have to be arranged distributed over the circumference of the rollers 26, 26a, so that in any case at least one incision into the area of the packaged piece goods G falls.
