Description
la fig. 1 est une vue en perspective de cette forme d'exécution;
la fig. 2 est une vue de bout correspondant à la fig. 1;
Packaging for two rows of objects
The present invention relates to a package intended to package two rows of objects the axes of which are parallel.
Open ended packages for wrapping groups of objects such as tin cans and bottle caps provide economical and satisfactory packaging for many products.
However, when it is necessary to provide protection against light to the packaged articles and if the packagings are to be transported over long distances, it is desirable to provide closure means at the ends of these packagings.
An object of the invention is to provide a package comprising closure means at its ends.
Another object is to provide such closure means which provide complete protection against light and prevent any damage to the articles due to impact with other articles, the packaging being arranged to ensure maximum security at its ends.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention:
fig. 1 is a perspective view of this embodiment;
fig. 2 is an end view corresponding to FIG. 1;
fig. 3 is a side view corresponding to FIG. 1, and
fig. 4 is a plan view of a blank from which this embodiment is made.
The packaging for bottles shown constituting an envelope comprises an upper panel r 1 in which are formed tab openings 2 to 7 intended to receive the necks of the bottles packed in the packaging. These openings 2 to 7 have radial slots 8. These slots form tongues 9 for engaging the bottle caps. These tongues 9 are disposed radially and arranged to engage the capsules from below. Thus, the top panel 1 is attached to the packed bottles. Panel 1 also has two finger grip openings 10.
To conform to the shoulders of the packed bottles, two angled top panels 11 and 12 are foldably joined along weakened fold lines 13 and 14 to the side edges of the top panel 1. Two side panels 15 and 16 are foldably joined. to the inclined panels 11 and 12 along weakened fold lines 17 and 18. Likewise, inclined lower panels 19 and 20 are foldably joined to the lower edges of side panels 15 and 16 along weakened fold lines 21 and 22. Openings 23, 24 and 25 are formed in the inclined lower panel 19 and are intended to receive the bottles.
The bottoms of the bottles protrude through these openings 23, 24 and 25 which serve to hold the bottles in place in the package. Likewise, openings 26, 27 and 28 are formed in the inclined lower panel 20 and correspond to openings 23, 24 and 25.
To form the bottom of the package, two bottom panels 29 and 30 are foldably joined to the inclined panels 19 and 20, respectively, along fold lines 31 and 32.
To clamp the envelope formed by these panels around a group of bottles to be packaged, two clamping openings 33 and 34 are formed in the bottom panel 29 and two similar clamping openings 35 and 36; are: formed in the bottom panel 30. As is known, machine elements can enter the clamp openings 33 and 34 and move below the group of bottles towards the bottom passage 30. Machine elements similar can enter openings 35 and 36
and pull the panel 30 towards the panel 29. Once the casing is properly tightened, the tabs of ver-.
rusting 37 to 40 formed in the bottom panel 29
are pulled through locking openings defined by retaining tabs 41-44 formed in the
bottom panel 30.
It is obvious that the panels 29 and 30 then overlap, the panel 30 being disposed inside.
To separate the end bottles on one side of the shell from the middle bottles, two tabs 45 and
46 are cut from panel 29 and joined foldably to the latter along fold lines 47 and 48. Likewise, tabs 49 and 50 are cut from panel 30 and joined in a folded fashion.
ble to the latter along fold lines 51 and 52.
The legs 45 and 46 like the legs 49 and 50 are folded in a general plane perpendicular to the bottom panels 29 and 30 (Figs. 2 and 3).
In order to form a closure for the ends of the envelope, two end closure panels 53 and 54 are joined in a foldable manner along fold lines 55 and 56, respectively at the ends of the side panel 16. Likewise, two end closure panels 57 and 58 are foldably joined. along fold lines 59 and 60 at the end edges of the side panel 15.
A locking tab
61 hook is formed on the inner edge of the end panel 53, and a similar tab 62 is formed on the inner edge of the end panel 54. Two. windows 63 and 64 are formed respectively in the sides
extremes. 57 and 58 to receive the legs of
locking 61 and 62 so as to constitute a locking for the end panels at the end of the
support. We see in fig. 1 and 2 that the tab 61 simply slides through the slot 63 from the outside in order to secure the end panels 53 and 57 to each other.
To help maintain the closure formed by the end panels inward and in engagement with adjacent end bottles, two
Locking slots 67 and 68 are formed in a middle parting panel 65 joined so
foldable along a fold line 66 at an edge of the bottom panel 30. The divider panel 65 is
perpendicular to the bottom panels 29 and 30 (fig.
1 and 2).
The legs 61 and 62 each have two hooks 61a and 62a respectively. Thus when the tabs 61 and 62 are inserted into the slots 63 and 64, the locking obtained effectively prevents any relative movement between the panels 53 and 57, particularly in the direction -tending to increase their surfaces.
overlap along the adjacent edges of these panels. Since the notches 67 and 68 are spaced inwardly a short distance from the ends of the middle panel 65, the effective width of the end panels 53 and 57, which is established when the tab 61 is fully inserted into the slot 63 , is somewhat greater than the spacing between the fold lines 55 and 59. Likewise, the spacing between the fold lines 56 to 60 is less than the effective width of the end panels 54 and 58.
Thus when the panels 53 and 57 are closed, there is a thrust on these panels when they fit into the notch 67. By this means, the trays 53 and 57 are somewhat bent inwardly of the support as the indicate the lines. shade 57 'and 53'. This bending helps to force panels 53 and 57 to conform generally to the curvature of adjacent bottles and, more importantly, greatly assists in keeping panels 53 and 57 closed.
If the package tends to spread out as a result of relative vertical movement between the rows of bottles C, the hooks 61a and 62a effectively hold the tabs 61 and 62 in a locked condition, thereby increasing the security provided by the package. and due at least in part to the fact that the slots 63 had 64 and the planes of the panels 57 and 58 are generally parallel to the bottles C and that the hooks 61a and 62a are locked with the corresponding slot 63 or 64.
The security of the locking between the end panels is further enhanced by retaining tabs 53a and 54a on the panels 53 and 54 which retain the lower edges of the associated panels securely in the locking slots 67 and 68. This action also helps to prevent keep the panels 57 and 58 closed by the fact that these panels are arranged behind the panels 53 and 54 and the tabs 53a and 54a. Weakened lines 53b and 54b facilitate movement of legs 53a and 54a into the locked position without diminishing the security of the lock.
It is understood that the end panel 53 is simply forced internally against the bottles. extremes until its lower part passes into the locking notch 67. This arrangement obviously serves to hold the two panels 53 and 57 securely closed. Likewise, the end panels 54 and 58 are held in the closed position by the locking notch 68 at the other end of the separation panel 65.
We see in fig. 1 and 2 that the end panel 53 is formed to conform to adjacent parts of the casing, as is also the case for the end panel 57. For example, the panel 53 is cut at 69 to conform to the general arrangement of the upper inclined panel 13. Likewise, this panel 53 is cut at 70 in order to conform to the general arrangement of the panel 20. The same is true of the panel 57 which is cut at 71 and 72. The end panels 54 and 58 are constructed to conform to the opposite end of the package.
It will be understood from the above description that protection is provided to the packaged articles, at the ends of the envelope, by the end panels 53, 54, 57 and 58 and by the structure associated with these panels.
Since the tabs disposed around openings 2-7 in top panel 1 serve to secure this panel firmly in place relative to the packaged items, the position of all end panels 53, 54, 57 and 58 is determined, which provides secure and robust closure at the ends of the envelope.
