Detection Filters

If you want to ignore some bird species, or limit what bird species have recordings stored, or set some bird species as extra important, you can do that with Detection Filters.

Detection Filters are based on the likelihood the analysis engine thinks given bird species are to be detected at your location for the current time of year. Click the Birds of the Week to see the species and their occurrence values for your location for the current week.

Bird species with an occurrence value greater than your Ignore Threshold value will be ignored. If they are detected, no record of their detection will be stored. Note that the occurrence values change over the year, so a bird that is ignored in June may not be ignored In January based on this criteria.

Species with an occurrence value higher than the Log Threshold value but lower than the Ignore Threshold will be logged, but detection recordings will not be stored.

Species with an occurrence value higher than the Record / Alert threshold but lower than the Log Threshold will be logged and the detection recordings will be stored. Species with an occurrence value lower than this will be logged, recordings will be stored, and the detection will be designated at the "alert" level. This can be used to trigger specific notifications. It is also included in MQTT publications.

If you with to override these detections filters for specific species, you can do so with Species Overrides. An override of type Ignore will cause that species to be ignored, an override of type Log will cause that species to be logged but not recorded, etc.
