Usage note: vs foment
[edit]Both can be used to talk about stirring up trouble: I have been accused of fomenting/fermenting unrest. Only ferment can be used intransitively or as a noun tho': his anger continued to ferment ; the countryside was unaffected by the ferment in the cities. JMGN (talk) 08:55, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
