Ultimately, the elections saw the California Republican Party pick up districts 16, 36, 65, 66, and recapture the vacant district 40, while losing district 44, thus rolling back the three-seat gain that the Democrats made in the 2012 elections, and ending their two-thirds supermajority in the chamber.[1]
