Sharon Chung (Democratic Party) is a member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing District 91. She assumed office on January 11, 2023. Her current term ends on January 8, 2025.
Chung (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Illinois House of Representatives to represent District 91. She won in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Biography
Sharon Chung was born in Chicago, Illinois, and lives in Bloomington, Illinois. She earned a bachelor's degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2000 and a graduate degree from Northwestern University in 2003. Her career experience includes working as a professional violist and violinist.[1][2]

|Sharon Chung is a mother, county board member, dedicated teacher and musician, and lifelong Illinoisan. As a natural communicator, collaborator, and problem-solver, Sharon is committed to being a strong voice, advocating for the hard-working people of the newly-drawn 91st House District.
The daughter of Korean immigrants, Sharon was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, and moved to Bloomington to attend college at Illinois Wesleyan University. She and her husband Jeremy were drawn back to the community as a place to start their family. Together with their daughters, Sophie (10) and Mia (7), Sharon and Jeremy have been proud to call Bloomington home since 2009.
Sharon was elected to the McLean County Board in 2018, representing the residents of District 7. She has served on the Land Use and Development, Health, and Justice Committees, and together with her colleagues, has brought increased transparency and accessibility to the board and county government. Sharon has been an advocate for openness and commonsense solutions during her time on the board.
As state representative, Sharon will be a dedicated advocate for working families, a compassionate ally for the marginalized, and a tireless fighter for the residents of the 91st District.
- Lower Costs for Families: Skyrocketing costs are unacceptable, and Sharon is fighting to deliver real results for all of us. She is fiercely dedicated to lowering taxes, cracking down on corporate price-gouging, and reining in the high costs of health care and pharmaceuticals
- End Violence Against Women: A committed leader in the struggle to end violence against women, Sharon will work tirelessly to invest in domestic violence shelters, provide mental and physical health care for survivors, and keep guns out of the hands of abusers.
- Advocate for our Communities: Sharon believes strongly in the power of education and getting the resources families need. She will work to rebuild our infrastructure, bringing new parks, roads, bridges, and champion education that prepares the next generation for high-wage jobs in our communities.
