Senate Committees


The Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee is a standing committee of the West Virginia House of Delegates.

Per the House Rules, West Virginia House of Delegates committees are assigned by the Speaker of the House, unless the House orders otherwise. The Speaker must designate a chair for all standing committees and may also designate a vice chair. Additionally, the Speaker serves as an ex officio voting member and chair of the Rules Committee. A majority of committee members constitutes a quorum.[1]

Function

According to the House Rules, the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee handles the following subject areas:

(a) Agriculture generally, including agricultural production and marketing, animal industry and animal health, adulteration of seeds, commercial feeding stuffs and commercial fertilizer, processed foods, insect pests and pesticides, soil conservation, milk and milk products, meats and meat products, agricultural extension service, entomology and plant quarantine, poultry and poultry products, and human nutrition and home economics; (b) natural resources in general, including game and fish, forest and wildlife areas, parks and recreation, water resources and reclamation.[2][3]
