Animation:
To start off, we need to keep in mind that this OVA isn't realy recent nor old. the 'age' of this OVA will be verry noticable in the color-palet. There is verry little variation in the colors and allmost the complete OVA episode lacks variation. You just cant feel any 'life' in the pictures. One of the somewhat positive points when looking at the artwork done by the artists are the backgrounds and the outdoor locations. Those 2 things are of decent quality compaired to the rest of the OVA (However you will have to keep in mind that the quality of the video could alter the quality of these 2 factors).
As for the characters, they can perform actions in this OVA that are totaly unbelievable (i never saw 2 persons on 1 bycicle being able to catch up with a car that rides at normal trafic speed). Several scenes in well look totaly unbelievable, even for an OVA that has a partialy humoristic setting. In the end this OVA is still aimed to be one with an outcome that is serious and not humoristic. The scenes that i'm talking about will be verry obvious from the start and will occure often in this OVA.
Sound:
The sound is maybe one of the only decent points (maybe for some of you even a good point) in this OVA. The opening and ending songs aren'ty realy good but aren't bad eather. I see them as a good choise for this OVA since they give the title a meaning. These 2 songs (opening and ending) will only be good for you if you like some decent rock music mixed with a repetitive song (the songs would have been much better if the music was played different and softer).
The sound effects are a good chois to part with the humoristic scenes of this OVA, but the rest of the effects aren't exacly a good chois to conbine with the scenes. The melodies that you will hear in the episode itself can be placed in the same category as the opening and ending songs (+ you should not expect a lot of variation in this episode)
The voise acting was realy bad for some charactes while surprisingly good for others. Some of the charactes will have a childish voise while others will have a voise that fits their personality perfecly.
Story:
Well i'll keep the stroy short since i did not realy likeit and since it was short (1 OVA episode long) The story is about a group of students performing in a music band. They play a variation of Rock music in my opinion. The OVA will start as 1 of the members leaves the group. The female lead character will be verry unhappy about this since they wont be able to play the best song they have anymore (song title: Canary). The rest of the group decides to find a solution to their problem, but since they aren't verry luck their show new show was canceled by the city autorities. So basicly they will have to solve all their problems in a limited time to be able to perform on stage in a couple of days.
Character:
You'll probably understand that there won't be a big oportunity to lurn about the characters. None of the characters has a background. The story just starts introducing each character one after an other, but whitout any background information. There will be a small range of different personalities: from Extreamly serious to the 'i don't care at all'-personality. Even if the amount of characters is limited, you will be sure to see a wide range of personalities. However that is the only positive point when looking at the character. All aditional info delivered on the charactes seems uncompleted and so the characters don't look realistic at all.
Value:
This OVA doesn't bring anything new to the genre. The somewhat strange music and songs may verywell be the original, never-seen-befor (at least for the tie it was first released) feature. 1 episode is just too short to come up with a good OVA. The story even has a strange ending, that could sugest that the OVA wasn't completely finished and that more episodes should have followed.
Enjoyment:
Well it is obvious from the score i gave that i didn't enjoy it at all. I will probably never look at this episode again since it has no real value. If in the future more episodes were released to complete the story a bit and built up the character backgroun, i would probably reconcider watching it again. But as long as it stays at this one episode it would be a wast of time to look at it again. Those of you that like to listen to some original music themes may like this OVA a bit (but don't be surprised, since only the opening and ending songs are relatively good. you wont find any other good OST for this OVA!). So there is a small chance that you may lick one or an other aspec from this OVA, but at its current stage of 1 episode you will surely not like all aspects of it.
So you should be prepaired to face disapointment when getting this OVA!
One last conclusion could be that it is strange to see an OVA (which mostly have a higher budjet that multi-episode Animes) that is of sutch poor quality. It just looks too much like an unfinished OVA (the date mentions: 2002 (?)). I personaly think that i wasted my time getting and watching this OAV. I wanted to make this clear by writing this relatively long review (at least i think it is relatively long).
Now if you think i'm mistaking about it, i sugest you get this one episode, watch at it and review it in a more positive way as i did (at least if YOU liked it). But i honestly think that about 95% of the people that watched this OVA will agree with me that it has low value and enjoyability.
