A good story driven kingdom anime that avoids all cliches

The first few eps when the MC solves the invasion problem was great. It was hilarious and I wish they could have continued on a similar vein.
Thereafter it is more talking with too many countries and people involved. If this was 100 eps long then it would have been ok, but in just 12 eps its not possible to learn enough to understand the significance of his great deeds. Though not boring it did feel a little tedious.
Also the MC is not a great person like Yang Wenli or Reinhard from Ginga Eiyuu, or even the MCs from Kingdom, so respect does not come naturally and we don't care that much for his victories.
This show requires our attention and intellect, but why will we do that when we don't care than much for its MCs, that is probably something that the author did not think greatly about. He was too focused on ingenuity and forgot empathy, and that this is ultimately for entertainment of ordinary people who are the vast majority.
Still, I am glad I watched it.

Not the best show, but constantly surprised me in good ways.
- tons of politics
- more military tactics than I expected, at least in the first arc
- some honestly fantastic observations about the nature of inherited power
- genuinely sweet relationships between the characters
Other than that, no standout aspects for me, but also no noteworthy flaws.
Recommended if you just want a smooth watch.

I like that it didn't really have any ridiculousness like nobody dying or convenient plot devices like random new abilities popping out of nowhere, the story also isn't bad, but the last few episodes did get a bit too silly.
This whole seasons felt like a long episode, it doesn't feel like it covered very much of the original story, the stopping point was also nothing major, felt a bit random.
Also I'm not sure if the MC's childish tantrums add balance or disrupt more.
Overall I did enjoy it, but it's hard to rate just part of a story, so I'll go with 6.5/10 for now.

When I see main character is super wise, it's enough for me to love it. It's super good with right dose of action and planning, although everything has this comedy background:

Got a mixed feeling about this. In some ways that this anime has its charms that got me very interested, but I did not really enjoy the style of the story line, felt a bit flat.

Nice take on the kingdom-building premise, we used to have a lot back then. This one has no real particularities or specialties, but it handles the balance between micro & macro management pretty well.
While the production value is just a bit above average, the artstyle & character designs are great.
