How to express normal professorship?

[edit]

This property seems to be limited to people holding the special kind of professorship position (chair (Q1363750)  View with Reasonator View with SQID). How do you express that a person is a "normal" professor at an institution? I tried to find out current practice:

occupation (P106)professor (Q121594) = 5026 statements
position held (P39)professor (Q121594) = 57 statements
occupation (P106)professor (Q121594) and position held (P39)professor (Q121594) = 3 statements
professorship (P803) = 45
professorship (P803) and occupation (P106)professor (Q121594) and = 2

How to express the university and subject domain? -- JakobVoss (talk) 08:39, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict - not all professorships are for university teachers

[edit]

Currently professorship (P803) has a restriction that it should be for people with occupation (P106) university teacher (Q1622272).

This is a conflict for people who are not university professors but who are an endowed chair (Q1363750).

This property, "professorship', seems to be for professorships and endowed chairs. I think it is correct to combine these concepts.

However, not all chairs are teachers. Some chairs are part of research institutes without any university affiliation or teaching duties.

We can fix this conflict by allowing occupation researcher (Q1650915). Thoughts from others? Blue Rasberry (talk) 13:46, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot see if multiple constraints will work based on documentation at Template talk:Constraint:Item. Blue Rasberry (talk) 13:52, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I tried to update this but did not see a change, so I reverted. Blue Rasberry (talk) 13:53, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request for deletion

[edit]

Just like commander of (DEPRECATED) (P598) this property should also be deleted and replaced with position held (P39). See Wikidata:Properties for deletion#Property:P598. /ℇsquilo 20:29, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Учёное звание? Academic rank?

[edit]

Probably this property should be splitted into ru"учёное звание" ("academic rank") and en"professorship" (ru"кафедра"?). --Infovarius (talk) 13:25, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
