     Ethel Lillian Birkin was born in 1874 at New Basford, Nottinghamshire, England^G.² She was the daughter of Sir Thomas Isaac Birkin, 1st Bt. and Harriet Tebbutt.¹ She married Charles Arthur Carlin, son of Arthur Charles Carlin, on 1 June 1922.¹ She died on 7 November 1972.¹
     She was awarded the Cross 'pro Ecclesia et Pontifice.¹' She was awarded the Médaille de la Reine Elisabeth of Belgium.¹ She was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1917.¹ Her married name became Carlin.

     Charles Arthur Carlin was the son of Arthur Charles Carlin.¹ He married Ethel Lillian Birkin, daughter of Sir Thomas Isaac Birkin, 1st Bt. and Harriet Tebbutt, on 1 June 1922.¹ He died on 1 February 1964.¹
     He was appointed Knight, Order of St. Gregory the Great (K.S.G.)¹

     Reverend Hon. Charles James Willoughby was born on 5 February 1822.² He was the son of Henry Willoughby and Charlotte Eyre.² He married Charlotte Payne Seymour, daughter of Henry John Hyde Seymour and Charlotte Whitcombe, on 7 August 1845.² He died on 6 November 1875 at age 53.²
     He was Rector at Wollaton-with-Cossall, Nottinghamshire, England.² Circa 1856 he was granted the rank of a baron's younger son.²

     Her married name became Willoughby.
