Philip Wilhelm Kurfürst von der Pfalz was born on 24 November 1615.2 He was the son of Wolfgang Wilhelm Pfalzgraf von Neuburg and Magdalen Prinzessin von Bayern.3,4 He married, firstly, Anne Catherine Vasa, daughter of Sigismund III, King of Poland and Constance Erzherzogin von Österreich, in 1642.5 He married, secondly, Elisabeth Amalie Prinzessin von Hessen-Darmstadt, daughter of Georg II Landgraf von Hessen-Darmstadt and Sophie Eleanor von Sachsen, on 3 September 1653 at Langenschwalbach, Germany.6,2 He died on 2 September 1690 at age 74.2
He was a member of the House of Wittelsbach.7 He gained the title of Pfalzgraf von Neuburg. He succeeded as the Kurfürst von der Pfalz in 1685.1
