Strong economic cooperation and growth among Muslim countries can help bolster cooperation between them and better support the Palestinian cause amid the war in Gaza, President Prabowo Subianto said at the D8 Summit in Cairo.
slamic countries must unite to advocate for a “fairer global order”, or risk being divided and exploited by other parties, President Prabowo Subianto asserted during a high-level meeting to discuss Gaza in Egypt, urging for stronger economic cooperation and better growth to give a firmer foothold to the campaign for the Palestinian cause.
Amid the current precarious geopolitical landscape, the President called on the Muslim world to work together to overcome poverty and to better represent the Global South, arguing that economic prosperity is key to escaping external oppression.
“We must work together to be united. We must leave behind our differences and look for the greater good of our peoples,” Prabowo said to representatives from Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey during a high-level meeting in Cairo on Thursday.
The former Army general stressed that unity is important to avoid exploitation.
“Let’s learn from the geopolitical situation that’s happening around us right now. [...] We say that we support Palestine, but if we’re weak, how can we support Palestine?”
