Beer fans no doubt will be raising a glass at news that a popular brewery is opening its doors for tours and tastings.

Anarchy Brewery in Heaton -known for the likes of Wor Beer, its easy-drinking pale ale collaboration which is served in across the North East including St James' STACK -is launching guided tours of its premises so that people can learn about its history and its brewing process. The new tours, which will begin this Saturday, will start with a tipple then wrap up with a tasting session.

Able to accommodate 14 people a time, the tours will cost £20, plus £2 fees, and tickets include a welcome pint and then at least three half-pint tasters, while those who are driving will be able to have theirs as cans to take home. Scott Nendick, taproom manager at the brewery, said: "We're really looking forward to showing people around.

"Our taproom is open to the public every Friday and Saturday from midday until 11pm and the atmosphere is fantastic. So, anyone who comes on the tour will have a great time sampling the beers and then enjoying the craic with the rest of our customers."

The brewery's beers are well known at local pubs and clubs, as well as sold online, and among its creations is Boot Boys -a nod to Newcastle Brown Ale, which is now brewed in Yorkshire and the Netherlands -which it says enables fans to once again enjoy a 'proper brown ale brewed in the toon'.

Saturday's afternoon tour, for ages 18 and over, will begin at 3pm and will last 90 minutes. The taproom will be open all evening for anyone who then wants to stay on and make a night of it. Food bought from nearby street food vendors also can be eaten there.

After this weekend, the next tour will take place on November 16 then further tours, to be arranged on select Fridays and Saturdays, will be advertised on the brewery's website and social channels. To book for the November 2 and 16 dates see here.
