(gä′zē-än-tĕp′) Formerly Ain·tab (īn-tăb′) A city of southern Turkey north of Aleppo, Syria. An ancient Hittite center, it was strategically important during the Crusades. The surrounding area is known for its textiles and pistachio nuts.
