Launched over fifty years ago by Christian television pioneers Paul and Jan Crouch, Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) made its humble debut on May 28, 1973 with one small television station airing a few hours of simple but inspiring programming each night to viewers across the Los Angeles area. From the start the goal of TBN was simple: to use the “miracle” of television to take the message of salvation, hope, and healing through Jesus to people everywhere.
Before long TBN was on the air full time, and through the support of a core of enthusiastic TBN partners that one small channel expanded to several dynamic Christian TV stations across America, followed in a few short years by strategically located international TBN channels as well — a fruitful combination reaching untold millions of hearts and homes across the earth with the love of Jesus.
Today through the leadership of second-generation media pioneers Matt and Laurie Crouch, TBN is impacting every corner of the earth — over 175 nations — with life-transforming Christian programming and content in 17 languages through more than 30 global networks.
As to TBN’s reach, it is nothing short of miraculous. Across the U.S. TBN is available in approximately 100 million television households, making it America’s most-watch faith channel, according to Nielsen ratings. And globally an astounding two billion potential viewers have round-the-clock access to TBN programming via satellite, cable, and over-the-air broadcast, as well as through a wide range of digital platforms on the Internet.
Just as miraculous is the explosion of technology that has enabled more people than ever to experience TBN’s programming — and the good news of Jesus — not just via traditional television, but anytime and anywhere through computers, smart phones, personal tablets, and other electronic devices.
What it all means is that as never before the entire earth has become a vast mission field for the gospel, and through the prayer and support of our friends and partners TBN is able to reach billions of souls 24 hours a day with encouragement, inspiration, and the kindness of God’s love. That is today’s TBN!
