Houston Dash News Release

HOUSTON - The Houston Dash open their 2016 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) campaign Saturday evening at BBVA Compass Stadium at 7:30 p.m. against the Chicago Red Stars. Led by reigning FIFA Women's World Player of the Year Carli Lloyd, the Dash are gunning for the first playoff berth in the three-year-old franchise's history.

The first 5,000 fans through the gates for Saturday's season opener will receive a Carli Lloyd bobblehead courtesy of BBVA Compass, the presenting sponsor for Opening Night. Tickets for the match start at $15 and are available online at HoustonDashSoccer.com, by phone at 713-276-GOAL or in person at the BBVA Compass Stadium box office.

Dash Season Ticket Memberships are available beginning at $137 for 10 home games and include 10 NWSL home games, plus an exclusive match to be announced. All Dash Season Ticket Members are guaranteed to receive a Carli Lloyd bobblehead.

The Dash unveiled their new away kit, or uniform, on Thursday in a ceremony at the BBVA Compass River Oaks branch and announced a "Pick The Kit" contest during the event. Fans are encouraged to visit HoustonDashSoccer.com and cast their vote for which uniform they want to see the team wear on Saturday night. Votes will be accepted until 10 a.m. Saturday, and fans will find out which jersey won when the Dash take the field for the first time.

As in years past, every Dash home game will be streamed live through the NWSL YouTube channel. Houston Dynamo sideline reporter Matt Pedersen will call the action with longtime women's soccer expert Jen Cooper providing analysis and former Dash communications representative Ben Crook reporting from the sideline. Every game will also be aired on a tape-delayed basis on ROOT Sports Southwest.

Two Dash home games - June 19 vs. FC Kansas City and Sept. 11 vs. the Boston Breakers - will air live on ROOT Sports Southwest with Pedersen, Cooper and Crook calling the action.

The Dash enter their third season in the National Women's Soccer League and are looking to earn their first playoff berth. The team finished in fifth place last season, missing the final playoff spot by six points. The top four teams at the end of the season qualify for the NWSL playoffs. The NWSL Final will take place at a designated venue that will be announced at a later date.

In addition to Lloyd, the Dash are led on the field by her fellow US Women's National Team star, Morgan Brian. Lloyd and Brian will join five Dash teammates at this summer's Olympic Games in Rio. Andressa and Poliana will represent the host nation, Brazil, while Janine Beckie and Alyssha Chapman will compete for Canada and Lydia Williams will play for Australia.
