Grenada (GRN)

The Grenada Olympic Association was founded in 1982 and, after provisional International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognition was granted that year, full recognition was accorded at the IOC session in Los Angeles on 25 July 1984. This enabled Grenada to make their Olympic début at the 1984 Olympic Games and they have competed at each of the Olympics since. They have not yet competed at the Olympic Winter Games. Grenadan athletes have competed in four sports at the Olympics – track & field athletics, boxing, swimming, and taekwondo.

In 2012 Kirani James won the first ever medal for Grenada when he ran to gold in the men’s 400 metres in London, and he returned in 2016 to win silver in the same event, and then added a bronze at Tokyo 2020 in the 400. Not only does he have a full set of medals, until 2022 he is the still the only Grenadian athlete to win an Olympic medal of any color.
