Club Nintendo Picross,[2] known as Picross Nintendo Special in South Korea, is a Nintendo 3DS eShop Picross title. It is much similar in style to Mario's Picross, as it was made by the same developer, Jupiter. Rather than focusing on themes of the Super Mario franchise, the game is themed around various Nintendo series. There is a total of 88 puzzles for players to solve and four modes: Easy, Normal, Free Picross, and Micross. The game was never released in the West.
In Japan, the game could be downloaded only through the Club Nintendo rewards program, requiring 80 Club Nintendo Points to download. In South Korea, the game is exclusive for ones who either accessed to Nintendo eShop from April 28 to December 5, 2012, or purchased New Super Mario Bros. 2 Gold Edition. A sequel titled Club Nintendo Picross+ was released in Japan in 2014.
Gameplay[edit]
This game introduces a new mode called Micross, where players complete multiple 10x10 puzzles, referred to as Micro Puzzles, to form a large 80x80 artwork. As in the previous modes (Free and Normal Picross), in Micross the player will not be penalized for making mistakes.
Start by solving the small 8x8 grid, which provides a basic outline of the final image. Completing this grid reveals icons on filled squares; tapping one of these icons opens a 10x10 Micro Puzzle. Each Micro Puzzle represents a small section of the final image, and solving it refines the illustration. Once a Micro Puzzle is solved, the corresponding square in the Main Puzzle is updated, enhancing the overall image. By completing all the Micro Puzzles, the rough outline transforms into a fully detailed 80x80 pixel artwork.
Levels[edit]
Levels with this icon indicate that it is not possible use the hint wheel or receive error notifications.
Practice[edit]
Please note that puzzles from E06 to E10 differ in the Japanese version. These puzzles are intended to form the words Club Nintendo.
Easy Picross[edit]
In all puzzles in this mode (including those with this icon ) the player will be penalized for any mistakes, resulting in additional minutes to his timer.
Normal Picross[edit]
From this mode on, the player will not be penalized for making mistakes, however, if the puzzle is not completed before the timer reaches 1:00:00 the artwork will become colorless.
Free Picross[edit]
Micross[edit]
Please note that in this mode if the player has not completed the puzzle when the timer has reached 1:00:00, the artwork can still be finished and will stay colorful. So, no need to panic!
