Marc Agnifilo, the attorney tasked with defending Sean 'Diddy' Combs, will lend his expert legal knowledge to Luigi Mangione as he stands accused of murdering the UnitedHeathcare CEO on December 4.

Brian Thompson was walking through the streets of Manhattan when a masked assailant stepped out from behind a car and fired multiple rounds into the back of the 50-year-old outside the New York Hilton Midtown, killing him in seconds.

The attacker then disappeared into Central Park and the New York Police Department suspected he may have left the city, before the 26-year-old Mangione was arrested in Pennsylvania days later.

Officers who detained him claim they found a 3D-printed firearm and 3D-printed suppressor on his person, as well as a handwritten manifesto which allegedly contains grievances with the American healthcare system.

Now as he lands in New York to hear the charges against his name, which federal murder and stalking, as well as entering his plea, his legal team receives a boost as Agnifilo joins him.

The 60-year-old has made a reputation for himself for defending Combs against federal charges of trafficking and racketeering, as well as other accusations of physical, emotional and sexual violence, which totals over 100 allegations as per Tony Buzbee.

He is the lawyer who petitioned the District Court of Southern District of New York to release the music executive on bond on four occasions, although three of them were denied and the final withdrew ahead of his trial in May 2025.

That gives Mangione quite an arsenal to take on the United States' legal system with after he already managed to recruit former Manhattan Chief Assistant District Attorney Karen Friedman, who is married to Agnifilo.

Mangione charged with terrorism

Mangione is yet to enter a plea and faces separate charges in both New York and Pennsylvania for the alleged offenses, and was recently spotted in a prison jumpsuit in photos with shackles around his ankles.

It's possibly he could face the death penalty, although prosecutors are yet to reveal whether they will seek such an extreme punishment. He was also indicted on charges of murder as an act of terrorism.
