The 7th Commandment

- You Shall Not Commit Adultery -

Can a man take fire in his bosom And his clothes not be burned? ...So is the one who goes in to his neighbor's wife; Whoever touches her will not go unpunished” (Proverbs 6:27,29). Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge” (Hebrews 13:4). “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, …shall inherit the kingdom of God” (1Corinthians 6:9-10). "You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY'; But I [YAHshua] say to you that everyone looking upon a woman in order to lust after her already has committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matthew 5:28). Adultery is even more than just flirting and fooling around with somebody else’s mate or forsaking your own for another. It is forsaking YAHshua (Jesus), our soon-coming Bridegroom. It is lusting for the things of this world because He alone is not enough for us, because we do not “love Him with all our hearts, souls, spirits, and minds” (see Mark 12:30). We are adulterers if we do not have wholehearted love, devotion, and obedience to the Most High who gave His righteous Commandments by which we are to live. That is why the two Commandments that summarize all ten—loving YAHveh (the LORD) with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, and loving your neighbor as yourself—will cause us to obey all the Commandments. We must set our minds and wills to be obedient to YAHveh. YAHshua (Jesus) says in Mark 8:38, “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”

In the last days, scoffers will say, “for years they’ve been saying He’s coming back, but He is not.” So their hearts grow cold and they become more and more self indulgent and cold hearted as they feed their flesh, becoming less and less in tune with the truth and more and more adulterous and drunk on the world. The self indulgent give Him lip service while their hearts are panting after other things. YAHveh (the LORD) has jealous affection over His beloved wife whose affections have turned to someone else or elsewhere.

Here are highly important and many times overlooked words in the very beginning of the Proverbs, the book of wisdom for life, “Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him” (Proverbs 2:12). Can you kiss the Son wholeheartedly or do you have friendship with the world that makes you like an adulterer? “You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward YAHveh? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of YAHveh (God)” (James 4:4). How can we kiss the Son if our hearts are divided between Him and our cravings and self serving ways? Our divided hearts make us enemies, adulterers, double-minded people who give Him lip service that will amount to spiritual death instead of spiritual life? He told Judas, “Are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” (Luke 22:48). You do not kiss YAHshua (Jesus) unless you give Him a whole heart, otherwise you, too, will end up betraying Him.

Yahshua (Jesus), our Eternal Bridegroom, Speaks of the Foolish Virgins as Adulteresses

Yahshua (Jesus), in giving “the Parable of the Ten Virgins”, was instructing and warning us to make wise choices in everyday life, by making every effort to be found righteous, ready, and waiting as a pure bride for her coming holy bridegroom. (Matthew 25:1-13) The foolish virgins in this parable represent the many professing believers, who have spent very little time seeking to cultivate an intimate personal relationship with their Savior and neglected to purchase the oil of the Holy Spirit to fill their lives. Most have been too busy, self-serving, people pleasing, and consumed with the things of this temporary world. Yahshua (Jesus), our eternal Bridegroom, speaks of the foolish virgins as adulteresses, it is written,  “You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” (James 4:4) So many “believers” have been on a destructive path. They have been deceived and distracted by the many pulls and preoccupations with this world and its enticements and pleasures. Consequently, many Christians have become double minded, superficial, and worst of all they are seen as an adulteress enemy in the sight of our Savior, because they have “left their first love.” (Revelation 2:4)

The Holy Spirit says, “… I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I betrothed you to one husband, so that to Messiah I might present you as a pure virgin. But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Messiah [Christ].” (2 Corinthians 11:2-3) Apostle Paul is cautioning the believers that they not be deceived and tempted by Satan with the temporary pleasures and riches of this passing world. He grieved knowing that many would be led astray and would forget to purchase the necessary oil of the Spirit in order to be ready for the Bridegroom and the long awaited marriage supper of the Lamb.” (Revelation 9:6-9) In the parable, when the foolish virgins awoke and realized the bridegroom arrived, it was far too late to purchase the oil of the Spirit to fill their empty, “lukewarm”, self-pleasing lives. It is written, “while the [foolish virgins] were going away to make the purchase [of the oil], the bridegroom came, and the [spiritually prepared wise virgins who] were ready went in with Him to the wedding feast; and the door was shut. Later the other virgins [the unprepared foolish] also came, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open up for us.’ But he answered, ‘Truly I say to you, I do not know you.’ Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour” (Matthew 25:6-8,10-13).  Let us be motivated and take to heart, that our Savior was magnifying the reality that all ten virgins professed to know and love the bridegroom, but only five were wise with foresight to be prepared and ready. The other five were foolish and had only a shallow confession of faith; they were distracted and preoccupied, greatly lacking the oil of the Holy Spirit, and due to their hindsight they were not ready for His return and missed the wedding and the eternal kingdom.

It is time for the many who profess to love our God and Savior to be shaken and awakened in order to become part of the remnant of wise virgins, consumed as a bride to be ready for the eternal union with her Bridegroom. The Almighty says, “I am a jealous God.” (Exodus 20:5) Our Savior’s passionate love compelled Him to sacrifice His life to “purchase” a holy bride to spend eternity with Him. (1 Corinthians 6:20, Revelation 9:6-9) We must purchase the oil of the Spirit by studying and obeying His holy Word, and learning to intimately communicate through loving prayer, praise, and worship with Yahshua (Jesus). It is vital that we cultivate a personal, one on one, relationship with our Savior, in order to obediently follow Him on that “narrow path that leads to eternal life.” (Matthew 7:14) Let us open our hearts to Yahshua (Jesus) who is “standing at the door knocking.” (Revelation 3:20) Let us open our hearts to Yahshua (Jesus) who is “standing at the door knocking.” (Revelation 3:20) He wants to come into our hearts, before it is too late, to build an eternal spiritual relationship with His redeemed bride.

Next Up: The 8th Commandment

How many of us steal the glory that belongs to YAHveh? For His “is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever” (Matthew 6:13). We cannot touch His glory. If we touch His glory, like a robber, we have stolen from Him. We are not to glorify and exalt ourselves; we are not to be prideful.  We are to be humble and grateful, giving YAHveh all the praise, honor, and glory, which is His due.

Want to learn even more about Yahveh's holy Ten Commandment? Check out Terrye G. Seedman's book "Redefining the Feasts of Israel Through the Ten Commandments." The Holy Days pivot around the Ten Commandments, these were appointed times to meet with Him that would help them to walk by His spirit’s leading in these Commandments.  Indeed, there would be no feasts if it was not for the Ten Commandments and the penalty of sin for not upholding them and there would be no need of Messiah.  The Ten Commandments point us to Him and YAHshua the schoolmaster points us to the truth so we can walk in a way worthy of everything that He has taught us to be.  “Not of the letter but of the Spirit.  For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” (2 Corinthians 3:6) This book unlocks truths from Yahveh's divine Ten Commandments to redefine the true meaning and fulfillment of the holy Feasts of Israel. Simply, the divinely appointed times, the feast days, pivot around the blood on the altar of sacrifice—on the mercy seat, for the forgiveness of sin and sin points us back to the Commandments. Therefore every feast is exalting the Commandments of YAHveh, exalting our Lamb who came and died because we can’t uphold the Commandments without His help.  They are inextricably linked. You can’t separate the feasts from the Commandments and you cannot separate the Lamb of God who is the ultimate fulfillment of the holy temple, priesthood, and the sacrificial system’s substitutionary sacrifice for our sin nature. Learn all of this and more in this powerful book about Yahveh's divine commandments and holy feasts.

The Ten Commandments

the Ten Commandments
- Overview -

Until the Commandments were given there was no knowledge of YAHveh’s holy rules or plumb line of righteousness.

the Ten Commandments
- Why are They Important -

We must be holy as He is holy yet without the Ten Commandments there would be no distinction between sin and holiness.

The 1st Commandment
- Have No Other Gods -

YAHveh says that He alone is to be our exceedingly great reward and that we must not love or put anything before Him.

line 2 copy.png

The 2nd Commandment
- Have No Idols -

The Bible says no idolatrous person will enter heaven. Anything that takes priority over our Creator and Savior is an idol.

The 3rd Commandment
- Honor Yahveh's Name -

The Creator has an incomparable, sacred name that is to be honored.  Indeed, the holy name of YAHveh is a fortified tower.

The 4th Commandment
- Honor the Sabbath -

Like YAHveh’s holy name, the Sabbath is to be remembered and observed as a memorial of the Creator’s work and rest.

The 5th Commandment
- Honor Your Parents -

If you cannot honor your parents you cannot honor YAHveh. This is the first Commandment with a promise.

The 6th Commandment
- Do Not Murder -

Yahshua said that anyone who holds hate in his heart or harbors anger is a murderer and has no eternal life abiding in him.

The 7th Commandment
- Do Not Commit Adultery -

Adultery is more than a physical sin - it is forsaking YAHshua by lusting for this world because He alone is not enough.

The 8th Commandment
- Do Not Steal -

We are to be humble, giving YAHveh all the praise, honor, and glory - otherwise we steal the glory that belongs to Him.

The 9th Commandment
- Do Not Bear False Witness -

Our Savior said if you do not speak truth, which is the only language of YAHveh,  you are speaking Satan’s native dialect.

The 10th Commandment
- Do Not Covet -

Yahveh says no covetous person has an inheritance in His kingdom. If you covet worldly pleasures you are His enemy.
