Fear Movie Review

Haritha Gogineni, a female director, makes her debut in the industry with the lady-oriented film Fear. The thriller, featuring Vidhika in the lead role, was released today (December 14) for the audience. Let's see how well this attempt has entertained the viewers.

Story

Sindhu (Vidhika) is undergoing treatment in a psychiatric asylum. However, she doesn't know why she ended up there. She is constantly searching for and waiting for Sampath (Aravind Krishna). Who exactly is Sampath? Why is Sindhu trapped in the asylum? The answers to these questions are revealed in the film Fear.

Analysis

Director Haritha Gogineni: Haritha chose a very relevant topic for the story. The message about how much time and care parents should dedicate to their children while growing up is a good one, but she forgot to deliver this message in an impactful way. To bring horror and thriller impact to a movie, careful attention to the storyline and scene composition is crucial. The lack of these elements, along with Haritha Gogineni also handling the costume and editing responsibilities, resulted in the film’s poor outcome.

Vidhika does a decent job in her role. The expressions she showcased conveyed the emotions properly. Sahithi Dasari performed adequately as required. However, the presence of actors like Shyaji Shinde, Aneesh Kuruvilla, Pavitra Lokesh, Sathya Krishnan, Shani Salman, and others raises a big question about their necessity in the film.

After seeing Andrew's name in the titles and the opening visuals, you'll be surprised. You'll wonder if this is the work of such a senior cinematographer. No matter how much the team tries to create a new tint, it still feels like it was shot on a phone.

Fear Movie Review

Anoop Rubens' music, production design, and art department don't deserve much praise. Despite the art department's efforts to cover the psychological thriller theme, it still gives the impression of watching a short film rather than a full-fledged movie.

Verdict

Overall, Fear has a decent concept and sends a good message. But sadly, the story could have been developed fully to make things better. Vedhika does well but the grip in the proceedings are not that great.

Rating: 2.5 / 5.0
