AK Variants
Kalashnikov and Norinco Rifles have been seen during the show's ten seasons. In the episodes set in Russia, Chechnya, Cuba, Iraq, China, etc, as well as flashbacks to the Korean War, Vietnam, and the Cold War, many varieties of Kalashnikov rifles have been seen, as well as the Chinese manufactured Norinco rifles. Unlike most movies and television shows JAG was usually pretty accurate about having the right rifle type for the locations.

Older M16 Rifles are frequently seen in the flashbacks to Vietnam, notably in "High Ground" (S1E16) and "Survivors" (S1E18).
The original M16, the first version, with 20-round magazine, adopted in large numbers by the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam - 5.56x45mm. This has the original 3-prong flash hider. It would later be replaced by the upgraded M16A1.

M16/SP1 (with A2 handguards)
Various styles of the M16 rifle series appeared in JAG during the show's long run. Both SP1s and M16A1s are seen with A2 hand guards were frequently used to simulate M16A2s. Such guns are not *technically* inaccurate in JAG, as the military has used and still does use some "Frankenstein" M16s. The Air Force being the worst offender, but such mismatched component weapons can be found in service with all branches.
M16 aka SP1 (flat "slab side receiver") with A2 style handguards used to resemble the M16A2 - 5.56x45mm
