One day she comes across a shredded dead fox when checking snares. She quickly realizes something else not human, not quite animal, has moved in on the mountain. Do you think William is grateful for this information? Of course not because Mattie is not supposed to have thoughts or ideas not sanctioned by his majesty. To make matters worse, outsiders are now looking for the creature. So, between black eyes and an intelligent being, Mattie has to find a way to survive.
It missed being 4 star because there is no explanation about the creature. You're just left hanging out there....more

Kind of hard to be afraid of a Frog that uses Gordon Ramsey as a mentor. However, once it started, it hit harder than Bing the Bear's war hammer. Who knew fictional real characters could be murderous. It sort of makes you wonder, if you ever did find yourself in the Hundred Acre Woods with Winnie the Pooh, would he try to eat you? Instead of his thirst for that jar of honey, it is full of his last victim's blood. How's that for childhood nightmare fuel. I loved the imagery this book provided. It was beautiful and went well with the heart pounding moments around every corner. Highly recommend....more

Usually I would be mad at the sudden turn of events, but I was willing to go where the author took me. I was so caught up in the story, I had to know how it ended for my new character friends. No idea what I just read, but I love it! I need more of this in my life. Only Mellick can bring us cannibal candy creatures wrapped up in a delicious love story of when opposite species attract.
