Anathema delivered on everything I was asking for. The dark gothic atmosphere. The slow burn. Hauntingly beautiful writing.

This book has officially put me in the worst slump I’ve had this year. The book hangover is REAL and it’s driving me insane. I can’t even look at another book because I'm hopelessly, irreparably, frightfully in love with these characters to the point I might perish if I don’t read the second one, but I CANT DO IT IM SCARED-
Although, I felt like nothing was happening for the first 40% of the book or what direction the book would take, I remained patient and kept going bc I knew it’s only the first in a trilogy. And it really picked up after the halfway mark, I was speeding thru the second half bc of the sizeable increase in stakes, tension and drama.
Stacey, I hate u but I can’t help that I love u too. At first, I was a bit like she's annoying and there was nothing overly interesting about her to make me want to care for her outside Kade but boi was I wronggggg. I’m sorry bbg I’ll never doubt u again ...more

Woohoo this was the 150th book to complete my reading challenge this year! And what a great book to do that with too.
This was so friggin mind blowingWoohoo this was the 150th book to complete my reading challenge this year! And what a great book to do that with too.
This was so friggin mind blowing. Loved it so much!
I had no idea where it would go. Every page was fresh and intricately written. It was more plot driven and I couldn’t get enough. I had my ass on the edge of my seat almost all the time.
Grayson was the star of the show. His devotion to London… if I don’t have that I don’t want it.
London made me so happy In this book bc she really stepped up her game. I loved her darker side and this whole book was such a psychological game and I lapped it up.
The last 30% had my heart racing out of my chest and falling to my feet. I swear there were times where I hated EVERYONE for being so dumb despite their high IQs. <<< But I still love Grayson ...more

You’ve all probably seen the same kinda selling points with this book but lemme just tell you that they weren’t the ones that got me to start the bookYou’ve all probably seen the same kinda selling points with this book but lemme just tell you that they weren’t the ones that got me to start the book. No, what got me to start was the fact that there was one ADORABLE grumpy and stubborn as FUCK single daddy (who is not the MMC tho *sigh* ) that does not coddle his daughter but prepares her for the worst at all times. His way of showing he cares had me in literal tears you guys I’m that senti over him ✋
anyWAY, I could not be happier that I finally read the book.
Along the way, obviously my love for the main characters grew but damn Vincent you will ALWAYS be famous ...more

I was completely hooked from the start. The writing was so easy to read, it was very straight forward. After reading Nocticadia, the simplicity was exactly what I needed. The story felt very mindless from the beginning to middle of the book but it really picked up after that.
This book is not perfect at all. Despite that I adore the characters and their relationships both familial and romantic.
