THE Love Island 2019 cast has now been unveiled with a total of 12 singles looking to mingle. Among them is Yewande Biala, but who is she and how old is the contestant? Here’s everything you need to know about Yewande Biala including age, bio, Instagram and more.
Love Island 2019: Meet scientist Yewande Biala
ITV2 reality series Love Island kicks off tonight (Monday, June 3) on ITV2 at 9pm. Expect plenty of drama from the villa every night which will keep the nation glued to their seats. Love Island 2019 confirmed the initial singletons taking part this year including a surfer, an air hostess, a boxer and a professional ballroom dancer.
Who is Love Island 2019 cast member Yewande Biala?
Yewande Biala was among the females named in this year’s Love Island 2019 line-up.
The 23-year-old scientist hails from Dublin, Ireland and is hoping to find love in the famous villa.
She graduated with a first class honours degree from the Athlone Institute of Technology in 2016.
Posting about her graduation, she wrote on Instagram: “I'm not going to say it was easy cause that would be one hell of a lie but I did it !
“And I couldn't have done it without the support and continuous words of encouragements from my family and friends so this ones for us. First class Honours in Biotechnology.”
Despite her job, Yewande said there wasn’t “a science to finding love” and joked that if there, she’d been reading the “wrong books”.
Yewande explained why she was a perfect islander, saying: “I’m a scientist, which is a unique job.
“I think people may be surprised. Every time I say that I’m a scientist, people are shocked.
“I think there are loads of intelligent people on reality television, last year we had Dr Alex and the year before we had Camilla Thurlow in the villa.”
She is on both Instagram on the account @yewande_biala and also on Twitter on @yewande_biala
However, judging from the number of posts on her Instagram account, Yewande is not a prolific social media user.
Love Island: Caroline Flack teases 'secret compartment' in villa
Yewande described herself as “funning and caring” but admits she’s a “tad dramatic”.
Before Love Island, Yewande was using dating app Tinder to help her find love but had a horrible experience that put her off.
Since then she was meeting people through mutual friends or going on a night out.
Teasing how far she’d go to nab her man in the villa, she said: “I am a terrible flirt but I’m such a girly girl and I can’t imagine stealing someone’s man in there. I don’t think I’d be that type but never say never.”
She continued: “I don’t think I have a wandering eye, I’m very loyal. I’ve never cheated on anyone but I’ve been cheated on multiple times.
“I feel like I am less trusting as a result of that. I think I’ll definitely have my guard up.”
She will be joining the likes of dancer Curtis Pritchard - the brother of Strictly professional AJ - and Tommy Fury, the brother of boxer Tyson.
