A man and a woman have been arrested and charged following a spate of break ins and attempted break-ins in Kilmarnock over Christmas and New Year.

Following an investigation for the East Ayrshire Priority Police Team, a 45-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman were arrested and subsequently charged in connection with the incidents.

They occurred at commercial premises in the Kilmarnock area between Christmas Day and Thursday, January 9.

The man was charged with six housebreakings and attempted housebreakings while the woman was charged with three housebreakings.

Both are due to attend Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

Inspector Iain Farmer of Police Scotland said: “Unfortunately, these incidents have taken place during the festive period when hard working staff have been away from their premises.
