latexrelease – LaTeX release emulation

This package provides both forward and backward compatibility of the LaTeX kernel, i.e. older kernels can be made to behave like a current one (if you have a current latexrelease but an old format) and a current kernel can be asked to emulate an older kernel version.

The package is part of the LaTeX distribution.
