I was asked to create a logo for a new Montessori high school that would place a great deal of emphasis on writing. They wanted a logo that gave the feeling that the school could have been established 100 years ago (rather than 2015).

 

I played around with several ideas: a coat of arms for the 100-year-old look (idea came from my alma mater: Kenyon College, est. 1824, symbol is a coat of arms), quill for writting, key of knowledge as a play on "Locke," branch with leaves symbolizing youth and growth.
