Steve ‘Scarper’ Young’s story is one of true indie spirit. Releasing almost exclusively on his own label (after a brief stint on Italo label ’N.O.I.A’), he’s built up a steady slew of releases & remixes over the past decade, as well as running nights, playing festivals overseas, and having everyone from the BBC to game developers seeking out his sounds. His debut album ‘Warmer Squares’ was released to critical (and peer) acclaim, but it was genre-mashing anthem ‘E-Funk’ which found its way to dancefloors worldwide - and remains in heavy rotation several years after its release. Not bound by any particular genre, and perfectly comfortable turning out beautiful melodic pieces one moment & underground bangers the next, his wide ranging influences collide in a marriage of classic sounds & contemporary
