On approaching the hotel, along the winding road that leads to the top of Tibidabo, it is an impressive sight. Built in 1925, the old building can be seen for miles around. Its lobby area is classy and understated. A doorman greets you on your arrival and directs you to wherever you need to be. An area to the right of the entrance houses the reception, where queries can be answered. The lobby bar offers large and comfortable couches, around low coffee tables and views of the terrace area.

The hotel offers five star service with bespoke packages for honeymooners, families and couples. Those in search of impressive views will struggle to find a more suitable location.

The Pool & View

Hotel Gran La Florida offers a spa with various facilities that are open to all in-house customers. There is a fitness centre with running, cycling, and step machines. There is a 37 metres squared pool that goes from indoors to outdoors. There is an area known as the 'water zone' with a Jacuzzi, sauna, hammam, pressure showers, hydro-massage baths and an ice fountain.

The Gym Area

There is also a separate area where treatments such as massages, facials and other treatments are available. These are offered at an extra cost.

There is a fine dining restaurant called L' Orangerie. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, offering stunning views of the city.

On Sundays a buffet lunch is served. Foods on offer include meats, salads, rice dishes and pastries, as well as water, cava and coffee.

The lobby bar is open in winter and during the summer months. There is also a pool side outdoor bar called Miramar Bar.

Room service is available 24 hours.

Pets are allowed in the hotel if they weigh below 6 kilos. They are only allowed in the terrace rooms, to ensure that the dog has an outside space. They are provided with a dog bowl, dog food and even their own bathrobe.

Families with babies are provided with a cot free of charge. Families should inform the hotel in advance, and they will receive a special baby pack on arrival. This includes blankets, a small bathrobe and a bib with the baby's name on it. Families who book the terrace rooms can also request an extra bed free of charge for children of 11 years and under.

Romantic Packages are also available.

Couples spending their wedding night in the hotel are offered an alternative package. They can stay in the deluxe room with breakfast in bed, late check-out and cava, a special sweet amenity on arrival.

Business Facilities

There are 4 meeting rooms in the hotel. Three of these offer natural light, terraces and views of the city and sea. One of these has a capacity up to 110 people. The other two have capacities of 25 people. There is also a large downstairs room with a capacity of 40 - 70 people.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel and is free of charge.

There are also two laptops in the lobby area where internet is available free of charge.

There are two rooms that are available for wheelchair users. They are terrace rooms. They have widened doors and adapted bathrooms. There are lifts to all floors.

There are a total of 70 rooms in the hotel. The rooms available are all doubles. The Presidential Suite has space for four people. The room categories are Deluxe, Terrace, Junior Suite and Design Suite. Each Design Suite has been designed differently by a well-known designer.

All rooms are either mountain or sea facing.
All rooms include air conditioning, in-floor heating, mini-bar and a Plasma screen television with satellite.

Hotel Location and Facilities

Gran La Florida Hotel is located at the side of a road on the way to the tip of Tibidabo. It is a 5 minute walk from the Tibidabo amusement park. It is also a 10 minute walk from a Gothic old church that sits on the summit of the mountain.

The nearest metro is Vallcarca - a 10 minute drive from the hotel.

How to travel from the airport to the hotel

With a private transfer service the driver will be waiting for you at the designated meeting point given to you on the booking voucher. The driver will help you with your bags to the vehicle and then drive you to your hotel. Private transfers are independent of the the public transport system. This means if there is a public transport strike these services will continue to operate.

Public transport transfer options

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes.

Taxi Fare: €30.00 - €40.00

Via Train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gràcia in 25 minutes. You can either use the T-Casual transport ticket from the airport (a ticket for 10 separate journeys on Barcelona public transport system) or you can buy a single fare ticket. From Passeig de Gràcia a taxi to the hotel would cost €20.00 and take around 20 minutes.

Via Bus: Take the 'Aerobus' to Plaça de Catalunya from directly outside the airport. The Aerobus generally runs every 10 - 15 minutes and the journey time is 30 minutes. From Plaça de Catalunya take the Green Line on the metro to Vallcarca. From here the hotel is a 10 minute taxi ride.
