Our reading rooms and the digitisation centre will be closed from 24 December 2024 to and including 5 January 2025. The reading rooms will reopen on 7 January 2025.

New design for SIARD Suite

The Federal Archives operate and maintain the open-source software SIARD Suite to archive relational databases. It has now been updated, and the latest release also features a new design. Users are guided step by step through the archiving process. You can find further information on using SIARD Suite and a link to download it here.

Online access: 1.4 million more dossiers now searchable

Artificial intelligence is now being used to automatically anonymise sensitive metadata
(e.g. names in dossier titles) and make them available online on the web portal for the first time. If users do not have the requisite authorisation, the data will be redacted. For more information, see Searching.

Federal Constitution

To mark the 175th anniversary of the Federal Constitution on September 12, 2023, the Federal Archives transported the historical document to the Federal Palace.
