ABSTRACT: The globalizing process, as well as the industries of tourism, rests on the needs of adopting a "lingua franca" in order for nations to understand each other. Historically, empires have interposed their own language as a sign of civilization, and education. What is equally important, ruling elite tried systematically to incorporate foreign language to distinguish themselves from lower classes. French aristocracy spoke Russian with fluency, while the British ruling elite was enthusiastic in speaking French. Roman aristocrats devoted serious resources to improve their Greek. The imposition of a lingua franca, no matter than its nature, divides the world in two parts, the native and the non-native speakers. This conceptual essay-review enumerated and analyzed a set of problems which revolve around the adoption of English as a global language in the constellations. We hold the thesis that tourism research replicates the same epistemological model originated in the economic-based paradigm, incorporating a business English grammar. Nowadays, English acts as a gatekeeper marking the radical selection in the papers quality. Echoing Dann and Gretzel, English has cemented a centralized form of production which excludes many other voices and knowledge while shaping the Anglophone hegemony over other idioms. The commercial-based vision is leading the epistemology of tourism to a gridlock very hard to reverse. We offer a diagnosis on a short study-case based on the CONICET repository and the ethical dilemmas around the paid-for journals and editorial rankings. The expansion of great publishers worldwide and the concentration of financial resources in Anglophone editorial in-house publishers have been successfully supported by English as a global tongue, locating English speaking scholars as the masters of a game where the non-English speakers will never win. The monolinguism, far from embracing universal theories, is ultimately ended to protect the dominant discourse orchestrated by the economic-centered theory. RESUMEN: El proceso de globalización, como así también la industria del turismo, ha descansado en la necesidad de adoptar un idioma como lengua franca con la finalidad última que las naciones puedan comunicarse entre sí. Los imperios, históricamente, han impuesto sus propias lenguas como un signo civilizatorio, pero lo que es más importante, en el mismo momento, sus respetivas elites adoptaban un idioma extranjero para distinguirse de la plebe. La aristocracia francesa adoptaba el ruso, a la vez que los británicos hablaban el francés con fluidez. Asimismo, los romanos no disimulaban su gusto por el griego. En este sentido, la imposición de un lenguaje común divide el mundo en dos, los nativos y los no nativos del idioma. En este ensayo discutimos las limitaciones y problemas que tiene la adopción del inglés como lengua franca dentro de los estudios turísticos. Nuestra tesis es que el inglés instrumentaliza una nueva epistemología centrada en el negocio y en una perspectiva económico-céntrica del turismo. En la actualidad, el inglés no solo es un problema para miles de investigadores no nativos, sino que funciona como el órgano de control de la calidad de los papers científicos en turismo. La discusión continúa la línea esbozada por Graham Dann y Ulrike Gretzel con un perfil crítico. Como estudio de caso final, exponemos los obstáculos del CONICET, organismo científico argentino para crear y sostener un repositorio digital con vistas a la publicación de trabajos científicos en revistas de categoría superior. El inglés como lengua franca deja a muchas otras veces sin posibilidad de ser oídas, al momento que alimenta la capacidad discursiva del mercado editorial, hoy monopolizado por los países angloparlantes. The concept of tourist valorization is only partially and sporadically examined on the territory of the Republic of N. Macedonia. Furthermore, managing tourist areas by specific destination management organizations has not yet been implemented on a satisfactory level. In such conditions of tourism development, the idea developed for writing this paper. From this emerged the need for expanding the concept of tourist valorization in the domestic scientific and professional field. This is made possible through a comprehensive, substantial and systematic analysis of the tourist valorization process in the function of improving the management of tourist areas. The basic subject of this research paper consists of determining the place, role, function, types and approaches of tourist valorization in the processes of managing tourist areas. Thus, this paper has a dual purpose. On the one hand, it should contribute to the enrichment of the scientific thought with contemporary concepts and approaches for tourist valorization. On the other hand, the results and knowledge of the paper should be in function of improving the current destination management and intensifying the level of tourism development in a given tourist space. The territory in question is the Ohrid tourist region which is also the touristically most developed in the country. This paper presents the results of the doctoral thesis by the author in which the research process through all its phases was performed with the use of a conceptual theoretical and methodological framework, which consisted of both cabinet and empirical analysis. This made it possible for primary and secondary data to be obtained. The collection, systematization and processing of data, as well as the presentation of the obtained results, were made possible through the application of quantitative and qualitative research approaches. The conducted cabinet research involved the reference of a wide range of international scientific and professional literature. The empirical research activities included the implementation of contemporary methodological approaches for valorization of several aspects of tourism. The scientific - applicative verification of this paper consists of the practical use of sublimated knowledge, global experiences and best practices for the valorization process in a defined tourist area. More specifically, the used methodological research approaches were the following: European Tourism Indicator System for Sustainable Destinations Toolkit (ETIS-Toolkit), Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) and valorization of the destination’s sub-systems: Factor, Attractors and Support Services (FAS-approach). Because of the wide range and volume of findings and results from the conducted research processes, only the most relevant will be presented in this paper. The gained research results allowed making conclusions and suggestions that have the aim to intensify and promote tourism development in the designated area of the Ohrid tourist region. This should serve as a framework for creative use of various valorization approaches in the processes of tourism management, not only on the analyzed territory, but also beyond.

Health tourism is one of the main development areas of tourism in Hungary. Health tourism development projects may initiate orders to the construction industry, preserve jobs, create new value and new jobs, and the multiplier effect may be beneficial for small and medium size enterprises in the surroundings of the investments. They can effectively contribute towards diminishing spatial and regional discrepancies, as thermal reservoirs are situated under 70% of the total land area of Hungary. The paper presents the results of a survey carried out in 2010 in three spa towns in the western part of Hungary. The objective of the research was to identify the role of spa tourism in the competitiveness of the three Hungarian counties (Baranya, Somogy and Zala) of the Croatian-Hungarian border area. The survey was focused on the local population of the three towns, and on the visitors of the spas. The objective was to identify the key success factors of spa development, the level of tourist satisfaction, the impacts of the spa on the local community. The survey was a part of a large project that analysed the role of health tourism in improving the competitiveness of the Croatian-Hungarian border region. The surveys were completed in August and September 2010, in three spa towns-Hévíz, Harkány and Nagyatád-on samples of 100 residents and 100 spa visitors, in each town. Generally local residents showed a positive attitude towards the spa as an attraction for leisure and pleasure, appreciating bathing more than healing. They are rather satisfied with the spa services, but food and drinks, and fitness services are considered of lower quality. In Hévíz the spa prices were considered too high for value, and this is really the most expensive spa of the three. The local residents of Harkány complained about technical improvements needed, while the citizens of the small town Nagyatád were very satisfied with their spa. In Nagyatád the spa was considered less important in the socioeconomic life of the town than in the other two famous spa towns. However, in Hévíz and Nagyatád the incomes earned and carreer prospects in the spa and related hotels were considered worse than the town average. The relationship between town leadership and spa were considered rather negative in Harkány. Local residents have positive feelings towards tourists, but the positive impacts of tourism are felt only in Hévíz, although here parking problems and high prices were felt as negative impacts. In Harkány the low number of tourists and the high prices were the main negative aspects, while in Nagyatád no negative impacts of tourism were felt. The most marked differences in the visitors of the three spas are with respect to age, length of stay, the motivation and purpose of visit, the accommodation taken, the daily spending and cost of accommodation, and the opinions on the spa services. While the tipical visitor to Hévíz is elderly, near the pensioner age, and stays for about two weeks for a medical treatment, paying a high price for the accommodation, who is not completely satisfied with the services offered by the spa and by the town, the typical visitor to Harkány is rather similar, but spends much less on accommodation. The visitors to Nagyatád, however, are 3-4 years younger, spend only a little, often comes with a group in an organised tour, stays about half as long as the visitors of the other two spas, and is usually completely satisfied with the services of the spa and the town. Those visiting Nagyatád, have already been to several other spas, being experienced spa visitors. Nagyatád, unfortunately, seems to have difficulties in converting the favourable opinions into revenues, the visitors stay only for a short time, and spend very little, and the town is obviously capable to attract much less tourists than the other two-regionally or internationally renowned-spa resorts. The survey results showed three different patterns for spa development: the pattern of an international success story of Hévíz, the situation of a regionally well known spa that has recently lost its attractiveness (Ha rkány) and the case of a small local spa in Nagyatád, that can successfully serve the local community, but lacks the preconditions needed to become a regional attraction.

La investigación es la creación del conocimiento, que por su naturaleza permite una mejor comprensión de los fenómenos y la búsqueda de soluciones innovadoras a las problemáticas de la sociedad, por medio de disntintos enfoques. La Secretaría de Turismo del Gobierno de la República (SECTUR), enfrenta desafíos en los fenómenos turísticos, caracterizados por interrelacionar distintas variables, que -sin ser exhaustivos- pueden asociarse con otros sucesos de índole económico, administrativo, tecnológico, ambiental o social. Por esta razón, cualquier solución propuesta dirigida al sector turístico en nuestro país, no puede prescindir de estos aspectos; es decir, se deben tomar en cuenta los eventuales impactos en las otras esferas de cualquier propuesta de intervención. De otra forma, lejos de representar un avance, podrían significar un retroceso.

Es menester reconocer que las soluciones son inherentes al entorno para el cual se proponen, situación que dificulta poder garantizar un determinado resultado, aplicando únicamente metodologías
previamente experimentadas. La concurrencia de distintos factores, con sus peculiaridades, hace que prácticamente cada uno sea distinto de otro, por lo cual, la investigación resulta ser de gran importancia para enfrentar nuevos retos que requieren siempre de un mayor conocimiento. Es más, la interdisciplinariedad de la investigación se convierte en una característica necesaria para poder definir y analizar una problemática dada, además de ofrecer alternativas de solución.

En prácticamente todas las áreas del conocimiento o de su aplicación, los beneficios de realizar investigaciones con un enfoque interdisciplinario han sido ampliamente demostrados. En el caso del turismo, como un hecho inherentemente multidimensional, resulta imprescindible impulsar la realización de acciones que tengan integrado en su espíritu esta característica. En este tenor, la SECTUR y el Instituto de Competencia Turística (ICTUR), en colaboración con la Secretaría de Turismo del Estado de Guanajuato y la Universidad de Guanajuato, en 2017 impulsaron el Congreso de Investigación Turística Aplicada (CITA 2017), en el cual se mantiene vivo este espíritu a través de distintas presentaciones de académicos expertos en el fenómeno turístico.
Para México, la investigación interdisciplinaria en materia turística es
fundamental, prueba de ello, desde un punto de vista funcional, son los elementos que puede brindar a la consecución de los objetivos del Programa Sectorial de Turismo 2013-2018. Investigar dicho fenómeno, provee los conocimientos indispensables para transformar el sector turístico y proponer, o fortalecer, esquemas de colaboración y corresponsabilidad para aprovechar el potencial turístico de nuestra nación a través de la identificación de sinergias que pueden ser capitalizadas; también permite fortalecer las ventajas competitivas de la oferta turística por medio de la identificación y análisis de las mismas (conjuntamente cuando se conjuguen); así como facilitar el financiamiento y la inversión público-privada en proyectos con potencial turístico. Ningún producto genera valor si no tiene, directa o indirectamente, alguna demanda, debido a que representaría un uso ineficiente de los recursos utilizados; es por esta razón, que desde el mercado, una mayor investigación permite impulsar la promoción turística para contribuir a la diversificación de la oferta, su desarrollo y el crecimiento del sector, sin descuidar los recursos utilizados en este proceso; lo cual redunda en fomentar el desarrollo sustentable de los destinos turísticos y ampliar los beneficios sociales y económicos en las comunidades receptoras.
Es bajo este último punto, que se pone en evidencia uno de los propósitos subyacentes de la investigación: la mejoría de las condiciones económicas y sociales de los actores involucrados, que -en última instancia- deben verla reflejada en su nivel de bienestar. De esta forma, la investigación en materia turística propone nuevas vertientes de análisis, fomenta actividades innovadoras y abre la posibilidad a nichos de mercado, que pueden ser desarrollados y aprovechados de forma sustentable. Es más, la investigación es también crítica, al señalar aquellos aspectos, que, aun siendo relevantes, pudieran haber sido subestimados, pero, si son analizados de otra forma, pueden representar importantes áreas de oportunidad. Las experiencias nacionales e internacionales, las contribuciones interdisciplinarias y las aplicaciones de la tecnología al fenómeno turístico, representan una invaluable fuente de información, que se pone a disposición del lector para su reflexión sobre el goce y el pleno respeto de los recursos turísticos, ahora y de las generaciones futuras.

Literary tourism is a sub-sector of cultural tourism and relates to travelling to places connected to fictional texts and the authors of those texts. Although it is an old form of tourism and lies at the foundation of classic European Grand Tour, it has not received much academic attention until recently and a number of qualitative studies on literary tourist experiences is still limited.

The general aim of this study is to address the lack of knowledge on literary tourist experiences by analysing the role of authenticity in literary tourist experience through the analysis of literary tourists‟ accounts of their literary trips. The scientific objective is to explore the connection between the imagination and authenticity at literary tourism sites. An ongoing discourse on authenticity in tourism saw the emergence of different views and resulted in proposition of three types of authenticity, namely objective, constructive and existential authenticity; the first two types are viewed as object-related, while existential authenticity is subject (or tourist)-related and is based on personal experience.

The research tasks are, firstly, to explore how respondents prescribe meanings to their literary tourist experiences; secondly, to discover how authenticity appears in narratives of literary tourist experiences; and, thirdly, to find out how respondents construct their narratives of literary tourist experiences. Collected data includes seven narratives, written by respondents on their literary tourist experiences; it also includes a travel journal, jointly produced by members of after-school study group from Ironville about their literary trips, and group supervisor‟s notes on the effects of literary tourism on students. Apart from content analysis, structural analysis of narrative was conducted using Greimas‟s actantial model.

The research results support the assumption that both object-related (objective and constructive) and subject-related (existential) authenticity are important in literary tourist experience, and that object-related authenticity can facilitate subject-related authenticity. The study confirms that authenticity is perceived and consumed differently by individual literary tourists based on their motivations, expectations and dedication to writers and literary works. Analysis of narratives using Greimas‟s actantial model demonstrates that respondents‟ narratives follow similar structure and are centred on literary tourists‟ quest for authenticity.

The results of the study can be utilized in management of literary destinations. Future research on literary tourist experiences could concentrate for instance on the specifics of tourists' age and gender, literary touristic "communitas" and literary tourism as family activity.
