The next Police and Crime Commissioner election takes place on 6 May 2021.
Police and Crime Commissioners (PCC) are elected for a four-year term to oversee how crime is tackled in a police force area. Their aim is to reduce crime and ensure the police are effective.

Guidance for candidates and agents
UK Government has laid legislation to reduce the number of subscribers for nominations for PCC elections.
The Electoral Commission have temporarily removed all nomination packs from their website and will update their guidance in due course.
Wiltshire Council is working with Swindon Borough Council to run the PCC election for the Wiltshire Police Authority area. Prospective candidates can email their details to [email protected] and will receive notification of the election arrangements and processes when they are finalised.

An online webinar event took place on 15 April for candidates and agents to provide the latest update on the election in Wiltshire and to answer questions.
Terence Herbert, Returning Officer, Kate Blackburn, Director of Public Health for Wiltshire, and our elections team talked through how our plans are progressing and explain some of the COVID-19 secure measures we will be putting in place at our polling stations and count venues.

The window for nominations for the May 2021 elections has now closed. The statement of persons nominated will be published on this page no later than 4pm on the 9 April 2021.
