Despite an originally announced release date of July 8th, country fans will have to wait an extra month for Nashville Outlaws: A Tribute to Mötley Crüe, an upcoming collection of countryfied Crüe covers that officially hits the shelves on August 19th.
The Cadillac Three Get Heavy at CMA Fest, Eye Metallica Date
The news arrives during a busy month for Mötley Crüe, whose members are prepping for a cross-country farewell tour that launches in early July. Meanwhile, the guys are also producing a movie version of their 2001 autobiography, The Dirt, although Christopher Walken — who was once rumored to be playing the role of a drug-addled, dress-wearing, ant-snorting Ozzy Osbourne — is no longer tied to the film.
Described by Crüe bassist Nikki Six as a record that wasn't made for "Mötley Crüe fans, but for country fans who are rock fans," Nashville Outlaws mixes twang and glam in equal doses. Some of the album's match-ups make sense, like the Cadillac Three's greasy, gritty cover of "Live Wire," Brantley Gilbert's bro-approved take on "Girls Girls Girls" and Justin Moore's yearning "Home Sweet Home," the project's first single. Others, like the Rascal Flatts interpretation of "Kickstart My Heart," might be harder for fans to imagine... although we've already heard the trio's version and can confirm that Flatts' singer Gary LeVox nails those high melodies. Kickstart the twang, LeVox!
