George Burns (born Nathan Birnbaum, January 20, 1896– March 9, 1996), was an American comedian, actor, and writer.

He was well-known for his comedy routines with his wife, Gracie Allen, involving her tall tales about her relatives. The Burns & Allen Show was broadcast on radio from 1942 to 1950[1] and on television from 1950 to 1958.[2]
