After getting up early and taking a long walk on the Park trails; where we encountered a doe white-tailed deer and her twin newly born fawns--amazing they were in their brilliant white-spotted coats with white stripes down their necks--we returned home and had only one task. Nap time!

My Summer Room
Saturday is always cleaning day! So after the bathroom and
kitchen were well sanitized and tidied up, I turn my attention to the most
important room of the summer--the deck!

Steam Heat--August In D.C.
It's HOT. Romeo and I went outside and I harvested a couple
dozen mosquito larvae to feed my tropical fish and then thought, "whew,
hot!" I gave Romeo a look and returned it in kind--that wonderful wordless
place that only lucky couples arrive at in the human realm, but animals can
seem to find with greater ease. No words passed between us, we both headed for
the door!
Now, inside and we are cool. We're listening to that iconic
Jazz quartet rendition of "Exodus" led by Grant Green from the 1970's
on KPLU Seattle. I'm happy to spend the day exploring ideas and Romeo? Well, he
is also fast at exploring "ideas" in his own inimitable manner. Sweet
the dreams of my fair prince!

Jerusalem Artichokes In The Park
Golly, I love these beautiful flowers. They have grown on the flood plains along the trail for years and always seem to be the final "Hallelujah" of summer.
