Condominiums - Cocoa Beach, Florida

2020 North Atlantic Avenue - Seeing as how these are separated from the road by a terribly long carport, I'm guessing it must have been the decorative screens at the end of the carport that sucked me in.  You know I can't resist a decorative screen!  There were all kinds of great things about this 1964 structure including the balcony railings, more decorative screen covering what is probably a stairwell and a fantastic butterfly canopy at the entrance to a covered walkway leading to the buildings from the parking area.  The site consists of a pair of 6 story buildings with 96 units apiece set in symmetrical fashion stretching from the parking area back towards the pool and recreation are and eventually to the Atlantic Ocean.

Screen at the end of the carports that sucked me into the property.

Butterfly canopy (but please remove that hideos security light in the middle and find something more appropriate).

The Haven - Winter Haven, Florida

235 6th Street NW - The Haven Hotel, which opened in 1924, was used to house prospective land buyers during the land rush of the 20's.  I have lots of memories of this building from when I was a kid.  I often played at a friend's house on nearby Lake Howard and on one particular day as a storm was rolling in from behind the building the clouds seemed to swirl around it in a menacing manner reminicent of Ghostbusters.  During those days the building was in a poor state of repair adding to the eerie aura it posessed.  The building was restored and remodeled in the late 80's I believe and became condos.

The front porch of The Haven was originally open and used for relaxing on rocking chairs while socializing and enjoying a cool beverage.

Royal York Apartments - Columbus, Ohio

1445 East Broad Street - The Royal York Apartments is a beautiful Art Deco apartment building dating from 1938. This building simultaneously make me think of a cruise ship and the apartment building from Ghostbusters.
