Abstract
The invention provides a method of multi-indexing moulds (2, 21, 22) using a flaskless moulding, machine (10): for forming moulds (2, 21, 22) and a mould conveyor (20) for carrying and advancing a mould string (4) produced from a plurality, of the moulds (21, 22), received by the mould conveyor (20) from the flasktess moulding machine (10). The method comprising the steps of: (I) forming a first plurality of moulds (21, 22), said first plurality being 2 or more, one at a time using the flaskless moulding machine (10), each of the first plurality of moulds (21, 22) being added to the mould string (4) white the mould string (4) Is stationary; by being brought Into contact with the mould string (4), subsequently to being produced by the flaskless moulding machine (10). Once the first plurality of moulds (21, 22) has been produced and added to the mould string (4), the method continues in step (ii) by advancing the mould string (4) away from the flaskless moulding machine (10) a distance corresponding to the sum of the thickness of the first plurality of moulds (21, 22) using the mould conveyor (20) without assistance from the flaskless moulding machine (10). A system for multi- indexing moulds is also provided.
