IMPROVEMENT `IN ADJUSTABLE CLAMP.

Be it known that I, 'CHARLES S. MEEKER, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven, and State4 of Oonnecticut, have invented a new Improvement in Clamp for `,Adjustable Shelf; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accoim panying drawings, and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent in- Figure 1, a top View;

Figure 2, a side view; and in Figure 3, a central section.

This invention relates to an improvement inclampingvdevice for adjustable shelves, such as was patented to S. V. Beckwith, October 9, 1866;, and

The invention consists in a socket and nut combined with a screw passing through the socket into the nut, and the socket and nut each constructed so as to receive the baud which surrounds the stove-pipe, so that by drawing the socket and nut together the band. is secured around the pipe.

In order to the clear understanding of my invention, I willfully describe the same, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

passing through the socket and into the nut, and both the socket and nut are provided with a loop, a, so that the metallic band D may be secured thereto, by simply bending one end o' the bandaround each of the said loops, as seen in g. 3; therefore, by drawingthe socket and nut together, by means of the screw G, the band is contracted so as to be bound firmly to the pipe around which it is placed.

I am aware that bands, witha nut'formed upon one end and a socket upon the other, through which a screw passes into the nut,|are common and well known; I therefore do not wish to be understood as broadly claiming such as my invention.

The combination of the socket A and nut B, each constructed with aloop, a, and provided with thescrew C, and combined with the band D, attached `to the said loops, the whole constructed substantially as herein set forth. l
