Description

No. 815,998. V PATENTED MAR- 27. 1906.
w. E. WOLFE.
WRISTLET.
APPLICATION IILED AUG-22, 1906.
W valby v UNI ED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM E. WOLFF, OF-NEW YORK, Y.
WRISTLET.
i wristlet which is simple, is easily adjusted,
and will protect the arm of the wearer from b'oth wind and dust.v
The novel and essential feature of my improvement consists in making a wristlet contractile at its front or outer end, so that it will fit closely around the wrist of the wearer, and expansile at its rear end, so that it will entirely fillthe sleeve of the coat or other garment with which itis worn.
The construction, combination, and arran ement of parts of my improved wristlet are lllustrated 1n the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a plan showing the wristlet in use, and Fig. 2 a longitudinal section with a part cut away to more clearly show the construction.
Similar reference characters indicate respondin parts in the two figures.
In the rawings, 1 represents the wristlet, which may be made of any suitable material and should be large enough at'its front or outer end to pass readily over the hand and at its other end to fill the, sleeve of any garment with which it maybe worn. One end of the wristlet is made contractile to fit closely around the wrist, preferably by in- .serting in the hem at that end an elastic band 2 or by any other suitable means. The other end is made expansile to fit tightly within the sleeve, preferably by inserting in the, hem
Specification of Letters Patent. v Application filed August 22,1905 Serial No. 275.324.
which the following is a specifi- Patented March 2'7, 1906.
flat metallic or bone spring 3, one end of which is made to slide in a guideway formed ll y offsets 4 4 .on the other end, as shown in The mode of operation is obvious. The wristlet is slipped over the hand, the lower end yielding and then closing upon the wrist. The up er end'is then first contracted and .thereof an eXpansile springfo r example, a
inserte within the end of the sleeve and there allowed to expand to fill the sleeve.
The wristlet is simple and easily adjusted and in use will protect the arm completely from wind and dust.
I wish it to be understood that I do not limit myselfto the particular means shown and described for rendering the ends of the wristlet contractile and expansile, respectively, since other equivalent means may be used for the purpose without sacrificing the advanta es to be obtained thereby.
What claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A wristlet provided with means which render it contractile at or near one end and means which render it expansile at or near the other end.
2. A wristlet which is provided with contractile means at or near one end and an expansile spring at or near. the other end.
3. A wristlet which is hemmed at each end and has an annular elastic band in the hem at one end and an expansile spring in the hem at the other end. I
In testimony whereof I have hereunto affiXed my signature in presence of two-witnesses.
