IMPROVEMENT IN GOOKIIlG-STOVES.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that LEVAN O. THoMas', of Jersey City, in the county of Hudson, and State of New Jersey, have invented'a new and improved Cooking-Stove; and I'do hereby declare that the following is. a full,'clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
Figure 1 represents a vertical longitudinal section of my improved stove, taken on the plane of the line z :z, fig. 2. i
Figure 2 is a horizontal section of the same, taken on the plane of the line yy, fig. '1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts. t
This invention relates to a new cooking and baking-stove, which is provided in the oven with a suspended shelf, that can be rotated from the outside without requiring the oven to be opened.
The stove is of oval shape, with a cylindrical or nearly cylindrical baking-oven, which is on one end of thestove, so that the'crescent-shaped fireplace fits nearly around half the oven.
The oven is provided with a false bottom and false cover, to allow the heated gases from the fireplace to be above and below it, and to thereby impart considerable heat to the oven.
A, in the drawing, represents a cooking-stove of oval shape. Within it is arranged a vertical partition, a, which is curved, as shown, so as to divide the interior of the stove into the compartments B and C, of which the former is of nearly cylindrical, the latter of crescent-shape.
The cylindrical compartment B is the baking-oven, and the crehcent-shaped compartment 0 the fireplace of the stove.
The bottom plate I) of the oven iselevated above the bottom, 0, of the stove, a space, d, being thus formed under the, ovenfor the hot air from the fireplace to circulate in.
There is also a similar space, 0, formed above the oven, as the covering-plate f of the oven is below the cover 9 of the stove. I V e The hot air in the space 0 s crvcsto heat the plate g of the stove, and the articles held thereon, while it also keeps the top plate of, the oven heated.
Owing to the curved shape of the plate a, the fireplace fits nearly around half the oven, thus heating it most effectually. v
D represents a shelf, suspended from' an arbor, h,-that extends upward through the top plate ofthe stove. A bail, 1.,is attached to the shelf and the arbor, by which the shelf is to be turned.
The articles to be baked are placed upon the shelf, and can thus be revblved and turned without requiring the oven to be opened.
The shelf can be'supported instead of being suspenddyand may then be provided with an equivalent device to allow its being turned from the'outside.
That part of this invention which relates to the arrangement of the shelf D may also be applied to other kinds'of stoves.
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- V The arrangement within the stove of the ,curved portion a, bottom plate 6, and top plate f, whereby a crescent-shaped fire-box, O, is formed upon one side the oven B, a combustion-chamber, e, above it, and a hotair chamber, at, beneath it, as herein described for the purpose specified:
