GLASS-POT HOLDER AND CONVEYER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 687,508, dated November 26, 1901.

To all whom, it may cm1/cern:

Be it known that I, JOSEPH WALKER, a citi- -zen of the United States of America, residing at New Kensington, in the county of Westmoreland and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Glass-Pot Holders and Conveyers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the. accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in glass-pot holders and conveyers, and has for its object the provision of novel means whereby a glass-pot is placed in a car or conveyor that will retain the heat and one that will not allow the glass to cool, but keep the same in a molten state in the pot.

The invention further aims to construct a receptacle of Iireproof material having arranged therein a fuel-inlet and means to close the same; furthermore, to arrange a door on the receptacle'that will allow the heat to escape, if desired.

Another object of the invention is to provide a receptacle with a vent that will effectually guard against the high pressure of gas in the conveyor.

A still further objectl of the invention is to provide a door that may be easily opened and closed for the purpose of gaining ready access to the glass-pot. y

With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, and specifically pointed out in the claim.

In describing the invention in detail reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forminga part of this specification,and wherein like numeralsof reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, in which- Figure lis a side elevation of my improved glass-pot holder and conveyer. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view thereof. Fig. 3 is a transverse vertical sectional View `of the same.

In the dra-wings the reference-numeral l indicates a track, and 2 represents the truck, upon which is mounted the receptacle 3, said receptacle being preferably constructed of fire-clay or any suitable fireproof material.

The receptacle is also provided with side doors 4 4, which are hinged at 5, these doors being preferably made of sheet-iron or like material and are suitably fastened together by means of a lever 6 and a hasp 7. The lever V6 is pivotally secured upon the outer face of the one door and the hasp 7 rigidly fastened to the outer face of the other door. 'The refing of the same to any degree desired in order that any excess of heat may be allowed to escape.

The manner of operating my improved glass-pot holder and conveyer, as well as the many advantages obtained by the use thereof,

will be readily apparent from the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings.

It will be noted that various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the general spirit of my invention.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isv In a glass-pot holder and conveyer, the combination of a truck mounted upon rails, of a receptacle constructed of fireproof material comprising a bottom and inclosed walls, said bottom engaging said truck, a pair of doors hinged to the end walls of said receptacle, and forming one wall of said receptacle, means for securing said doors in a locked position, one of the end walls of said receptacle having y an inlet-pipe, the top of said receptacle having a vent therein, and a hinged trap-door carried by the top of said receptacle, substantially as, and for the purpose described.
