LOUIS FERRAIOLI, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DEVICE FOR ORNAMENTING CAKES, 800.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 608,958, dated August 9, 1898.
' Application filed January 22, 1898. I Serial No- 667,607. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LoUIs FERRAIOLI, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Devices for Ornamenting (lakes and the Like, of which the following is a specification.
By means of this invention the so-called filling operation of confectioners, cakebakers, and the like can be readily and efficiently carried out, as set forth in the following specification and claims and illustrated in the annexed drawings, in which Figure 1 is an elevation of the device or bags in section along line a: on, Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a section along line y y, Fig. 1.
In the drawings is shown a nozzle comprising two tubes or passages 1 and 2. As shown, these tubes are concentric, or the tube 1 is inside the tube 2. A bag or compressible holder 3 is shown tied or secured to the inner end of the tube. 1. A like bag or holder 4 is secured to the inner end of outer tube 2. When suitably filled or charged, the bags, placed one inside the other, can be closed or tied shut, as by a string 5, or said bags, if desired, could be held shut by a hand of the operator. Any pressure or compressionas, for example, squeezing by hand-exerted on the outer bag 4. to express its contents through tube2 will at the same time cause expression or escape of the contents of bag 3 through tube 1. If, for example, the bag 3 is filled with fruit or jelly and the bag 4. with marshmallow, suitable ornamentation or filling of cakes, pastry, and the like can be attained by the discharge of these two substances. The respective contents of the bags can be taken of suitable kind and contrasting color, as may be desired, for the preparation of various goods.
The bags 3 and 4 are separate or independent from one another, so that their contents will not mix. These bags are separately attached to their respective nozzle-tubes 1 and 2, and when detached and opened the bag 3 can be taken out or separated from bag 4. Either bag can thus be separately washed, repaired, or replaced, as may be required. When to be closed, a common cord or string 5 can be used to effect closure of both bags.
The outer end of tube 1 projecting beyond the outlet or outer end of tube 2, the contents from tube 1 can spread to a certain degree before being followed by the flow from tube 2. The inner end of inner tube 1 projects beyond the inner end of the outer tube 2. The inner bag 3 can thus be readily tied or connected to its tube 1, after which the outer bag 4 can be connected to tube 2.
The tubes 1 and 2 can be connected or secured to oneIanother in any suitable way, as by a properly-applied spider or braces 6. The bag' 3 having been tied or secured to its spout 1, the spout and inner bag can be readily dropped or slipped into the outer bag 1 and thelatter secured to or made to rest about its spout 2.
The mouth of tube 2, as also of tube 1, could be suitably fluted or toothed or otherwise arranged to give various suitable designs, or said mouths can be left circular or plain, if desired.
By properly flanging tube 1 it can be effectively secured to its bag.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A nozzle comprising concentric tubes or passages, and independent compressible bags placed one inside the other and secured respectively to said tubes substantially as described.
2. A nozzle comprising concentric tubes or passages, independent compressible bags placed one inside the other and secured respectively to said tubes, and a common cord or closure for the bags substantially as described.-
3. A nozzle comprising concentric tubes or passages secured to one another and having their outer ends extended one beyond the other, and the inner end of the inner tube projected beyond the inner end of the outer tube substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
LOUIS FER-RAIOLI.
