INSTRUMENT FOR CUTTING OIL-CLOTH.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, MARCUS A. SUNDEE- LAND, of Utica, in the county of Oneida, in the State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Tool for Cutting Oil-Cloth 5 and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

The nature of my invention consists in providing a handle and foot which are molded in one piece, as per reference to drawing.

To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, Iwill proceed to describe its construction and operation.

I have constructed my invention with a handle and foot, A A, molded in one piece, the foot A being about two-thirds of an inch in thickness, with an aperture, C, in the center about one-sixteenth of an inch wide and about one and one-half inch in length, running from the top to the bottom of the foot A. I place in this aperture a knife, B, about the size and shape as represented in the accompanying drawing. This knife is secured and held firmly in the aperture by a thumb-screw, D, which passes through one side of the foot A. I place a small wheel, E, at the forward end of the foot A, which plays loosely on a shaft, as shown at Fin the accompanying drawing. This enables the foot A to pass over any obstructions which may be under the material to be cut.

What I claim is- The above-described foot A, knife B, and caster E, the whole constructed and operated as and for the purposes above set forth.
