PLOW-CLEAN ER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 419,624, dated January 21, 1890. Application filed November 15, 1889. Serial No. 330,416. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDGAR S. BALLENTINE, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Decatur, in the county of Morgan and State of Alabama, have invented new and useful Improvements in P1ow-Oleaners, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in plow-cleaners; and it consists in certain novel features hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved device, and Fig. 2 is a bottom plan View of the same.
My improved device is intended for application to the foot of the user, and in constructing it I employ the base-plate A, which is of the shape to conform to the foot and may be made of any size desired. At its rear or heel end the base-plate is provided with a Vertical guard B, which is adapted to fit around the heel of the users shoe, and thereby prevent the foot slipping rearwardly off the base-plate, and at its front end the baseplate is provided with a lug O, which prevents the foot slipping forwardly therefrom. The device is secured to the foot of the wearer by the straps D passing around the toe and ankle of the foot and secured to the baseplate, as shown. On its under side at one of its side edges and near the toe or front end E, which may be of any desired size, and is adapted to remove the dirt from the plow share. The base'plate is further provided on its under side, at its rear or heel end and near its front end on the side opposite the scraper, with the feet F, which are of the same height as the scraper, and enable the user to place his foot squarely on the ground when the device is not in use.
In practice the base-plate is fitted to the shoe and the device strapped to the foot. The operator then follows theplow over the ground in the usual manner, and when the plow has become clogged with dirt, by a few strokes of the foot can remove all the dirt therefrom.
It is obvious from the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, thatI-have provided a plowcleaning device which is very light and simple and can be manufactured at a small cost.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A plow-cleaning device consisting of a base-plate adapted to be secured to a shoe, and a blade or scraper depending from the under side of said base-plate, as set forth.
2. A plow-cleaning device comprising a base-plate having the guard B at its rear end and the lug C at its front end and adapted to be secured to the shoe, and the scraper on the under side ofsaid base-plate, as set forth.
3. The plow-cleaning device consisting of the base-plate adapted to be secured to a shoe and having the guard B at its rear end and the lug C at its front end, the scraper E depending from the base-plate, and the feet F on the under side of said base-plate, as set forth. the base-plate is provided with the scraper In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto atfixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
W. T. MULLIGAN, FRED. VIERLING.
